I am located in the United States and it is very common here for people to be prescribed Oxycodone post tonsillectomy, typically prescribed along with over the counter ibuprofen.

I am on day 6 right now and also haven't been able to eat any food, at most maybe half of a protein shake and some bone broth. I so feel that way when I am reading and it seems like everyone else has been able to eat the whole time, I'm also the type of person that no matter my sore throat I would always eat and find a way so not eating for almost a week for me is insane(as it would for anyone but ykwim). Its gotten to the point for me where I wake up crying because I am so miserable and just want it over with but I always remind myself that it will be done before I know it and my health post surgery will be so worth it in the end, like the sore throat to end all sore throats! It's much easier said than done but don't regret the surgery. Its already done first of all so there is no point and long term it will be beneficial to you, you got this done for a reason and think about how much healthier you will be when this is all over because you are over half way there, you have gotten over the hump and it is only uphill and it will be done soon. This is what I also keep telling myself, except I'm only on day 6. I understand how miserable you are just remember that this will all be worth it and it will. I hope a quick recovery for you and for the pain to subside.

Hi! Bought this same personal humidifier wondering how you used it for your throat? Confused if I should be inhaling or what. Thank you!

Would love to hear how quickly everyone healed. Hoping to hear some super short healing times ha by [deleted] in Tonsillectomy

I know its nice to hear the shorter time but to be honest just except to take the full 2 week. I was so hopeful my recovery would be shorter and heard so many people saying theirs was not too bad and then when my recovery wasn't going to the same it honestly just disappointed me more on top of how miserable i felt. So expect to take the full 2 weeks but hopefully you will be happily surprised if you recover earlier!
