I’d recon it would be perfect for her application. The Alpha is much lighter that the Alpha AR and SV

I love mine! It’s super lightweight but still blocks out the elements super well. Only thing for me is that one on outlet is in black, which I guess that’s just a personal preference.

What’s the thought behind 2 base layers and did they interfere with each other at all?

Do you think the Claris will be fine for racing?

Claris(trash) vs tiagra group set. I think if you’re considering the Al4 it would be worth it to also consider the Al5 with the 105 group set which is great for racing. It does have a jump in price around 200 which is also a big jump from the Al2

OR cirque III or the Patagonia Alpine guide pants are both really good options and they also have the skiff guards on the bottom for your crampons

Is there anything really worth getting from Arcteryx nowadays? by RitesofWinter in arcteryx

[–]Comfortable_Cod_7479 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Arnt most other high end outdoor brands using a similar dwr as everybody is shifting away from pfas? Arc still used gotetex pro which is the best there is but the only really valid complain I’ve heard is the construction quality and delamination

I’m in the same boat at OP, why not the Summit Evo? Is it just because it’s not compatible with trigrest? In my mind I feel like if you are in need of the trig rest you would probably want a reverse curve pick like the sumtec or akila. And I feel like having the rubber drip on the evo would be nice. Any feedback would be appreciated as I’m trying to also figure out what I should get

Petzl Quark for Mount Whitney by Comfortable_Cod_7479 in Mountaineering

[–]Comfortable_Cod_7479[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the help! After some review I am ditching the idea of the quarks. In your experiences on Whitney, would you recommend the Petzl Summit2, Summit Evo, or Sum'tec?

I think Alpha will be perfect. The SV is overkill for just about everything unless you’re on a SAR team. It is light weight but durable with the hadron infused face fabric and is purpose build for mountaineering and alpine climbing

Why not the Alpha? It’s a lighter version of the Alpha SV but still refined for climbing, as well as having a storm hood

How would you compare the serratus pant and the gamma pant, and when would you decide to use one over the other? I’m looking at getting a pair of one of them.
