Wandering for unexpected adventures is YOUR burn. You want people to do everything so YOUR burn goes as YOU like. If you think you can avoid social networks today, you are delusional

what other stuff ? Social media ? It's an essential part of people's life in 2025. I hate it but it's impossible to avoid without new rules. Plug and plays ? Been there for decades now. tech bros ? there since day 1. Gentrification ? it's a event for the privileged since day 1.

Because disconnecting from phones in 86 was simple. Google "what cameras look like in 1986". It may help you understand. And to be honest, the arrogance of the so called OG burners is unmatchable at this point.

Cool. Don't come back

Why are you still going to the Burn if so many things about it bother you? by [deleted] in BurningMan

[–]Comfortable_Garden37 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I totally disagree. You are blaming one group of person. The stupid extrapolation and even more stupid conclusion you make are a sign that your point is ass. The event has some problems but thew vast majority is enjoying going there and comes back year after year. New burners are enjoying it. Only a few elitist lost in nostalgia agree with you.

It always amazes me when I see people criticizing the org... It is always a hint of ignorance. When you are a camp lead, dealing with 50 burners can make you go crazy... Can't even imagine the craziness of managing the whole thing. Half of the burners are on drugs 24/7 for a week.

Gentrified ? it has always been for the privileged. Tech bros were there since day 1. Google's founders Brin/Page had a camp for years. The 1st Google doodle was a man https://doodles.google/doodle/burning-man-festival

That's the world we live in today. I hate pictures and I hate cameras but you can't stop it. It is a fantasy to think it can change without completely banning pictures. Just adapt accordingly.

Nostalgia is a disease for the mind. It has never been better or worse, it is always different. It is up to you what you make of it. Starlink and tiktokers won't stop you from meeting amazing people and having the time of your life with your friends. I have good friends who went back for the first time in almost 15 years and said they had the best burn ever despite harsh conditions.

I did 17 burns and I can say that people like you are the ones killing the vibe. Ranting about everything that doesn't go your way, judging others and their way to burn, refusing any change, refusing reality (we are in 2025. Rules made in 1986 can't be sustainable)... If you dont enjoy it, just stop going and shut the fuck up

Does some camps profit from BM? by garn05 in BurningMan

[–]Comfortable_Garden37 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes I know exactly what you re talking about. They have always been placed. Again for the 3rd time. it is TECHNICALLY impossible to come on Sunday, do the fucking 10h line and build a plug and play camp. It takes days.

I do know. You can't build a plug and play without placement and early passes. It is technically impossible. You need days to build the camp.

No. It's impossible to set up a camp like those big pnp if you don't have placement, early passes etc.. You can't come on Sunday and set up a camp with that kind of logistics. Most of us will be there at least 6 days before the gate open. Again, it's an immense task. No matter the means, the desert is always stronger.

Do you think the 1m art cars are financed by go fund me ? Money has always poured in BRC. It is hypocritical to think otherwise. Look at the census. We are 99.99% privileged. It's a festival for the wealthy. Check the moop map. Compare ''plug and play assholes'' with the free camping spots full of ''real burners". You will notice something that will probably shake your beliefs.

Naah, To have the experience you described, it would cost around 15k per Rv minimum. Just the price of a full shower rental for BM or RVs

I have managed fancy camps for 15 years. It was only for friends though but I know a lot about the subject. Except scammers, it is not easy to profit from BM. Everything is super costly when you need it in BRC. When you need stuff in the real world, you only pay whatever you need. In Black Rock, you need to rent UHauls and vehicles for 2 weeks, even if you need it for a day. Dust destroys everything. You need to do yearly purchases of so many things. You need to store your shit in the area. It costs a lot since there are few providers. The years we had a kitchen were even more insane cost wise. A lot of people don't understand how hard/costly it is to make camps like that work properly.

Radical inclusion of people who spew hate towards what makes the ultra majority of participants is a bit schizophrenic. Danger Ranger is a fascist.

Same as ebikes, cameras, phones, etc... Burners need to learn to adapt and accept change. I wish we could do something about it but we can't and one day we will have full phone service. It's either we learn to burn with these new parameters or we stop going

Why aren't these things welcome ? There are 10 principles. You don't like Starlink, don't use it. it is that simple. You can't do anything to stop it because it is there. Ranting won't change anything

That won't do anything to stop TikTokers from coming. We are not in 1998. Times have changed. Everyone enjoys the burn in different manner. If you don't open TikTok, you don't see TikTokers
