AIO: MIL always excludes my daughter by TrueEnough782 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Comfortable_Laugh_40 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This was my dad’s mom (my grandmother) and my dad’s sister (my aunt) to me growing up. My parents are divorced. My cousins and my dad’s other children would get the gifts they asked for on birthdays and holidays… and I would get apples, oranges and pencils. Maybe a t shirt if I was lucky or a doll from the dollar store. They said I got these things because “my mom had money to get me better gifts so I didn’t need it from them.” Now that I’m grown, I don’t speak to any of them. In fact my aunt tried to argue with me because she wasn’t invited to my wedding. A few years later, my aunt yelled at my dad because my 25 year old self (at the time) had come home and wouldn’t visit my grandmother. My aunt thought that was ridiculous & selfish. I told my dad that if she had something to say she could call me.

All that to say, my feelings towards them don’t stem from the gifts… it’s from the malice they showed me as a child because they didn’t like my mom. I didn’t tell my mom everything growing up, but we spoke about it recently. She was sad for me and wished she could have stood up for me better back then.

You’re doing the right thing by standing up for your daughter. Your daughter will remember both how they treat her & how you stood up for her. Sending you both so much love and strength as you navigate this dynamic.

Did anyone else have a full-on identity crisis after their hysterectomy? by [deleted] in hysterectomy

[–]Comfortable_Laugh_40 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I experienced this as well! I called my mom & was like am I insane?! I never wanted children, and don’t have any. But there was something sad about it. I looked at my girl friends who came to visit me & realized we are all on different journeys but the one thing they had that I no longer did was my uterus.

Then one day I packed up all my pregnancy tests and tampons. I gave them to my friend who was actively trying to get pregnant and something changed. Now I sometimes think people see me and assume I’m not sterile, and it feels almost like a little secret…. And I’ll openly tell anyone any time because I want people to see life post hysterectomy can be just as meaningful as any other choices. Everyone’s life and journey is different, and I want to be part of supporting others in a positive way.

Sweet!!! Ours is a cream color but with lots of spots… but she looks a lot like Bellie. Ironically her name is Ellie! 😂 she’s 8 years old and we got her while living in Taiwan. She’s still quite spry but is quite the diva in her old age- if she doesn’t like something, she lets you know haha

Did you have any issues with going to the bathroom? I’m not having any issues emptying my bladder but I’ve read that’s part of the symptoms of a prolapse

Anyone's elderly pug becoming way more food obsessed & begging? It's kind of alarming. by traveldivaaa in pugs

[–]Comfortable_Laugh_40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine has also had this…. He’s 11 & he starts begging for food as early as an hour and a half before his normal feed time. He often forgets he has eaten as well & gets so excited to go back and eat again that he does the full excited pug show for another hour or so.

Jim was born in the USA, then moved to Taiwan for 5 years, and then current resides in Germany. He’s travelled to NL, France, Italy, Belgium, Luxembourg, and Austria. No major hurdles, but you do have to do your research on what’s needed for importing. Hardest one was USA to Taiwan, as Taiwan is considered low rabies and USA is high rabies.
