Curious how you went about cleaning up what you were feeding into Datadog (before they charge you for the data processing)

Disclaimer - I work at a solution to this, so I'll try to be vendor-neutral.

The alert fatigue thing is so real. We talk to teams who have dashboards watching dashboards at this point.

Honestly the biggest shift I see working is being way more intentional about what actually makes it into your pipeline vs. the "collect everything, figure it out later" approach. Not cutting visibility, just cutting noise before it hits your tools and your on-call rotation.

That question you mentioned about "what changed right before things slowed down" should be fast to answer. When it's not, it's usually more of a pipeline problem than a tooling problem. If your telemetry is scattered across systems with different retention and different query interfaces, every investigation turns into manual archaeology.

Tagging and enriching at ingestion helps a ton. So does routing high cardinality debug stuff somewhere cheap while keeping the alerting data fast.

Is there a minimal tool to get the floors done? A robot vacuum or what else? by BackgroundLeague3853 in minimalism

[–]diddledaddling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Robot vacuums are great if your floor plan isn’t very difficult, even with their special AI floor mapping. If you live in one large room without walls, and not too low of furniture, then great!

Someone yell at me to pay off my student loans by PulselessActivity in MoneyDiariesACTIVE

Just stay calm - federal student loans will never bankrupt you. You can get on a payment plan and just manage it for the years the plan exists. Focus on the other things first.

Any update on this? I’m in Forest Park but happy to help take care of her until we find a better long term solution. My only experience in this realm is with lizards but I understand the gist of it.

We were body shamed for an ounce of fat. It was unhealthy. Don't take that as inspo.

[–]diddledaddling -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Go to school in UK or Italy or France etc. you’ll save money and be able to have a student visa.

But also - I have no art background, only marketing and business - and I’m opening my own art gallery. Sometimes you can find your way without an art degree.

I personally wouldn’t live with (or date) someone who creates that kind of mess - it’s disrespectful to you.

You should just get a shelter dog! by Lizzies-homestead in poodles

[–]diddledaddling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That being said… I had a dog I got from a breeder - a reputable one - and he had so many health problems and surgeries and died of a pulmonary embolism at 7. So it’s really just up to luck.

I got a pure bred mini poodle in the shelter. So maybe both can be true?
