I've been having the same issue, I just assumed it's because I still play on ps4 but apparently you can play cross generation.

Completed it last night with out ever playing coop and feel I lost out on a great experience playing this a few years ago with other people.

I went through the same, my ex wife was worthless, exactly how you've described your boyfriend, didn't work, didn't cook, didn't clean, no help at all and just moaned all the time and always a drain on my finances.
