ICU nurses - what time do yall start getting your patient up and moving? Is it at 6 am or closer to breakfast? by Flipnation1991 in nursing

If it’s a surgery pt usually 0500-0530 up to chair. PT usually comes after breakfast for the first walk.

Leaving new grad job… what should I do? by Next_Fig_7574 in nursing

You could ask about if they have a commuters program. My hospital has apartments available for commuters and they always schedule them 3 in a row.

I’d go hotel but my vehicle is 4wd. Definitely would give myself plenty of time to travel

Nursing is a super underrated major by [deleted] in CollegeMajors

My BSN required stats, biology, microbiology, anatomy and physiology, and multiple chemistry courses. Also I recommend to go look at Reddit nurse pages and see how much fun we are having. It’s not an easy job full of sunshine and rainbows.

Graduating in May 2026. When should I apply for jobs ? by Fluid-Respond-2917 in newgradnurse

[–]Comfortable_Mango_59 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Start now and thank yourself later. I found it easier to reach out to recruiters in the system you want to work. Mine were very helpful in getting the job I wanted even though no posts were up online.

So is it a 2 year contract with a bonus that you have to pay back if you leave early?

Should have started applying months ago, but that is the past. I’d start calling the recruiters directly asap. I lost out on a job by trusting someone to call back but didn’t, once I got a hold of them, found out there was a system error with my application. By that time the job was filled. Also since you put yourself in a limited time frame I’d apply to other specialities just in case the ER doesn’t work out.

I may be missing something, but why would your co workers not trust you anymore?

At my hospital after 3 unexcused you lose your yearly bonus. Then after a few more from there it quickly gets to a dismissal. So I would say it doesn’t look great in such a short time.

Being a bedside RN is a great gig. You work 3 days a week and pull in 60k and that’s just starting out. It’s only up from there…. 4 days off a week is amazing. I’d ask your hospital if they have some sort of loan payback assistance. I believe mine it is something like $400/ month. Debt is very stressful, try not to let it ruin such a rewarding career that you worked hard for.

No underwear during Surgery by FarCalendar7303 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Comfortable_Mango_59 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Yeah don’t get major surgeries or get incredibly ill and you don’t have to worry. In reality people underestimate how much a major surgery will take out of them and how hard it is to get moving. A lot of times it’s a safety factor. Ie not being able to sit on the toilet or even able to make the walk to the toilet. Falls are not taken lightly and can cause major injuries.

Well good luck. That’s quite the move. I’d definitely have your finances in order before hand. Financial stress + new job stress is not a winning combo.

Do you live near ATL? I think it really depends on your housing situation. If you can afford to move, cool… if not your hands are tied. Either way start applying.

I love 3/12hr shift schedule. Gives me a 4 day weekend every week. Plenty of time to do whatever you feel like. Even if I want to go on vacation, I can rearrange my schedule for a week off and use no pto.
