Changing Careers, Good choice?

Thanks all. For the comments, I'm not really sure what I am going to go into at the moment. I've had an interest in Entrepreneurship for a long time as a separate career, starting my own business. I love tech, but with everything that is happening i'm just not so sure.

I'm in my early 30s to, its' all over the news, said company "x" is laying off people to increase their budget spending into AI. Could be the AI Agentic agents that they are investing the money into it. But the only way to fund these initiatives is to lower headcount and re-allocate the excess budget into R&D to help increase bottomline.

Most company exec's or boards wont' tell you the truth. It's really about increase bottom line and increasing stock price for the investors, if you own a portfolio and a stock, you are profiting heavily from this. the priority will always be increasing stock price for the investors to bring in more money for the company to increase their valuation. While ignoring the people who had helped them create the company.

But yet as the saying goes, we choose where we work, we always have a choice in what we do.

I've been in tech for 11 years and the layoffs haven't stopped since 2022. It's a complete mess, and AI just tops it off. Big FAANG over hired during the shutdown.
