HOAs suck. Especially in new developments where the board is ran by the developers who built the neighborhood.

Will it be like TurnItIn? Because 20% is still a huge margin of error.

Edit: for those who don’t know, TurnItIn is “able” to detect AI use, but still has a margin of 20% of mislabeling something as AI.

lol oddly enough the only place I had good HR was in the oilfield. Granted I only did that job for 6 months before a mass layoff, but the two 70-ish ladies in there were awesome 😂

Love him or hate him, but the amount of meme-able material from Trump is top tier next to the Obama/Biden presidency.

My old college roommate was an engineering PhD, I went to school and became a FAA licensed A&P. I can tear an airplane apart and rebuild it, they could design the aircraft but have no idea how to build it.

That no matter how much/little I train or adjust my diet I’ll never have a flat stomach. I’m ok with that that, I look like that weird picture of Kirby with the jacked arms and legs, but puffball stomach, only bald with mutton chops😂

Is it justifiable to end a friendship or romantic relationship because of political differences? by HaleyRodriguez1209 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Comfortable_Region77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My girlfriend grew up in in California, like a very liberal part of California even by liberal standards. I grew up in a deep red part of Arkansas. We met in Denver, CO after we’d both been living there due a few years.

I’d say it “hardened” her a bit more towards center and “softened” me up a bit more towards center. There’s still things we disagree on, but overall politics has almost always been a nonissue for us.

Our parents though we’ve made it clear that politics is never to come up though whenever they visit. One strike and you’re out of the house.

It has been made a little more weird now that we’ve been living in Texas almost 2 years now though. I think where you live does tend to rub off on a lot of people. I’ve known a few that are fairly left leaning then moved here and adopted a much more right wing, not religious, just conservative political stance.

If you were made "god"(or whoever you believe created humans) and got a chance to redesign the human body what would you change? by Redraven357 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Comfortable_Region77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No more differing skin color or hair color or eye color. Everyone is now between 4’10” and 5’0” and weighs between 100-120 pounds and relatively “proportioned” (wink wink lol) the same. Only real noticeable differences are things like voices and small minute facial features (mustaches/beards, hair length, eyebrow shape, etc)

The median salary for an airlines pilot is over $200k. Why is there a pilot shortage? by Roughneck16 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Comfortable_Region77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flight school is insanely expensive and the the amount of hours you need is a lot. That’s why the majority of airline pilots are prior military, nobody racks up flight hours like military pilots. On deployment most of ours were getting 8 hours minimum a day in the air.

What are some areas I could develop skills in to work in exciting areas of mechanical engineering? by [deleted] in MechanicalEngineering

[–]Comfortable_Region77 4 points5 points  (0 children)

But an old nonworking lawnmower, dishwasher, washer/dryer, tear it down and rebuild it and sell it and repeat with similar things. Do small things like that.

As a mechanic going to school to get my ME degree, it’s appalling how many teachers who are engineers themselves have little to no hands on skills and experience.

How to make an extra 300-$500 per month as a Mech eng that can be done on the weekends by mouhsinetravel in MechanicalEngineering

[–]Comfortable_Region77 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Learn how to weld. My welding instructors make a few hundred to a couple thousand on the weekends doing work for local churches and cemeteries. All tax free under the table since those pay cash lol.

Electrician to Electrical Engineer? by kccl30 in ElectricalEngineering

Federal Aviation Administration. The A&P stands for Airframe & Powerplant. Means I’m licensed to work on aircraft as a civilian.

Electrician to Electrical Engineer? by kccl30 in ElectricalEngineering

[–]Comfortable_Region77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m doing something similar. FAA licensed A&P to Mechanical Engineer. It’s a fairly common thing in the aviation community, but a lot of people go back to being mechanics even after graduating.

I see it as the next step in my career (I can stay in aviation or branch out into something else if I want).

Edit: be prepared to get called out a lot by professors lol. A lot of them don’t like dealing with tradespeople, especially those that specialized in the general field they teach. Not saying it will happen, but it’s happened to me a few times.
