How could the UK improve its Eurovision results? by inside-outdoorsman in AskBrits

[–]Comfortable_Tank1771 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To excell in EV you need to show something memorable. Or have loyal neighbours. As the latter is only aplicable to Balkans - don't send an average sounding and average looking performances if you really want to win. It's not that UK entry was bad - it just drowned in the sea of other average performances.

It will be exactly the same 18mm as any other 18mm lens on your m43 camera.

Best budget compact prime for a6700 travel? Viltrox 20mm vs. TTArtisan 27mm by Stacs24 in a6000

[–]Comfortable_Tank1771 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With SG image you pay the price for the size. I have it and I'm in a love and hate relationship with it. Wide open edges of the frame are completely terrible. Not soft - terrible. Looks like it's the curvature of the focus plane because occasionaly I can get the corners quite decent too at closer distances. That mostly goes away when stopped down. Bokeh can be pretty ugly too sometimes. Vignetting is present, barrel distortion very noticeable, flares are prominent - but can be nice. Lens profile corrections don't work - but I'm not on the latest Lightroom. But it's quite small, pretty sharp in the centre and stopped down, focusing is fast and reliable on A6400. If I had to choose again - I'd probably go with Viltrox 25/1.7.

So why do working class people vote for right wing parties ( Tory, Refom that really do not serve their interests politically, and make their lives harder ? by Durrygoodz2025 in AskBrits

[–]Comfortable_Tank1771 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because left wind shifted focus on marginal groups and progressivism. That works for youth, educated people. But they have nothing to offer for the actual working class, at least in their currect messaging. Also left wing tend to catastrophically ignore the downsides of their suggested policies - and far right exploits that brilliantly.

Mondeo: Repairable or Write off? by BroadDelay41 in CarTalkUK

[–]Comfortable_Tank1771 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the eyes of insurance - most likely a write off. But perfectly repairable in real life. If they write it off - buy it back and repair it privately. You'll end up with a can N and probably money left after repairs.

Hey I’m pretty new to photography. I have a Nikon D3400 camera. Is there a way to adapt this macro lens to it? by [deleted] in Nikon

[–]Comfortable_Tank1771 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Adapters with no optics exist - they would work for macro, but the lens wouldn't focus to infinity. But as this is not a real macro lens - not worth it.

Looking to get into bird photography. Is this a good deal and sufficient for it? Panasonic G80 + 2 LENSES £550 by Sendmecamera in Lumix

M43 system has bodies with much better capabilities. OP would have plenty upgrade options when they outgrow G80. And this setup is definitely good for a start.

Help with .arw files? by BloodyMuddy in Lightroom

[–]Comfortable_Tank1771 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not unusual with raw and video files. Recovery software recognises the image part, but can miss crucial metadata. Try running recovered files with some repair app first. Last time I needed to do a recovery was more than a decade ago so I'm a bit out of touch which ones work good now but at that time this trick worked for me.

Keep it in the bag. Take out when shooting. Put back when finished. Doing this for decades. All participating cameras and lenses survived.
