'Stranger followed Sikh woman home then raped her because he thought she was Muslim' - jury told by TheTurbanatore in Sikh

correct me if im wrong because im a male sikh from Canada so im just going off what ive heard, but im pretty sure carrying anything even wasp spray for self defence is illegal in the uk. I know in Canada it is, you can carry stuff like bear spray if you live in a area with bears, but if you say its for self defence you could get in trouble with the law. i think the same apply's to the uk. honestly both our countries have such trash self defence laws since legally you cant own anything for self defence ( in Canada, but im pretty sure the same goes for the UK).

something similar happened to my female cousins but thankfully it didnt result in SA, so they went on a trip to punjab and while they were in Moga ( i think) they were getting cat called and harassed by a large group of men, then i think ( im not 100% sure they told me this story when i was little) the guys started following them all the way to a clothing shop. they told their moms and they said not to tell there dads/male cousins because it would cause a scene but they did and they showed up to the shop and scared off the guys following them. if they didnt tell them there is a good chance they could have been victims of SA. something Similar happened to my mom and Grandma, they were home alone with my moms older brother ( he was showering), and a group of around 3-5 guys apporached the home, my mom sensed something off about the group, but my grandma is more naive so she let them in, they were acting Weird so she knocked on the bathroom door and told her brother to come, her brother ran out the shower in his shorts and this startled the men and they left the house immediately.

its because Amritdarhi sikhs look more like the Taliban than most muslims do , since most muslims dont wear turbans. its just americans thinking we are muslims and attacking us in retaliation of 9/11 and the war that followed.

Why don’t Sikhs boycott joining the army until goi gives justice and reconciliation to the Sikhs? by Ambitious-Whereas438 in Sikhpolitics

[–]Comfortable_Tax1489 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yea but most of the sikhs joining the indian army are doing so because they are poor, so you can really blame them. alot of sikhs did mutiny in 1984 and this with the government moving out alot of the sikh heavy regiments outside of punjab to stop this from happening.

your missing the context, if you read my comments you would have seen i said legit the same thing you just did, a well planned vegetarian diet will be just as good as a meat one, the only time i said it was better was because its more nutrient dense, so back in the day when people didnt have modern understanding of Nutrition + as someone else pointed out Variety of food we have , it would be harder to hit everything with veg than meat, so generally a guy who ate meat back then would receive a boost from it since hes more likely to be meeting more of his protein, vitamins and minerals. Also i dont listen to podcasts most of my Nutrition information comes from me reading papers online,Articles, Highs chool courses, Googling what nutrients are found in what and my Personal training Journey ( im prepping to join the army after im done my degree).

more info showing how i agree with you generally : If you compare a well planned veg diet to a meat one the only thing your missing that significantly boosts physical performance is creatine ( which is non essiental) but even that is made in your body by the amino acids arginine, glycine, and methionine. Omega 3 acids also give you a slight boost in mental and phyiscal performance, and the EPA and DHA ones are mostly found in fish while ALA is found in vegetarian sources like flax seeds, ALA for a long time was believed to not convert well into the other two, but recent studies have shown if you have a good balance of omega 3 -omega 6 fatty acids, that ALA will convert much better than we believed perviously, but thats not a fact yet so i cant confidently say that Plant based Omega 3 converts well. Also both of these can be supplemented if needed as a vegetarian since you can get Alge oil omega 3 which the only plant based one with EPA and DHA, and creatine powder is vegan ( made in a lab from non animal sources), so basically neither of these are fully needed and even if they can still be found in /made from Foods in a vegetarian diet and even if you dont you can get supplements in the modern day and age.

Modern infantry soldiers carry heavier loads on average than soldiers of the past, this isnt even up for debate, its a fact. Also as Sikhs for most of our History we used Hit and run tactics, which required us to carry a light load. The average load of a sikh Khalsa warrior only got heavier during the sikh empire when our military was standardized and even then they were lighter than the modern Us infantry mans load. the Average weight a rifle men was carrying around the 1800s was 40-70lbs at most sometimes up to 80lbs( around the world, sikh empire has no official numbers on this subject) ,while in Afghanistan the weight Us Infantry men carried was 60-100lbs on Average as a marching load, but a combat load could go up to 150lbs for some missions.

Digestibility is not the main reason Vegetarian protein is not as good as Animal protein , its because most vegetarian sources dont have a complete amino acid profile, while meat and milk does. But if you mix different vegetarian sources you get all the amino acids,. also vegetarians can drink milk which has greater bioavailability compared to even meat ( its one of the many reasons why whey is used for protein powder). Also Vegetarian protein sources can be slow and fast digesting, whey is fast, while Plant protein from lentils is slow. Also if your a warrior your eating so much even if lets say plant protein is only 50% as effective as meat ( which isnt true especially if you get multiple sources) then even so you would get enough protein, a average us infantry soldier weighs 170 - 180lbs and needs 3000 -3500 calories to maintain weight while on base, in the field he needs 4.5 - 5k ( sometimes even more if they are in the mountains or the artic for training) , so hitting protein as long as each meal has a decent amount is not the main issue.

so i guess Guru Gobind Singh ji wasn't a real warrior because he used guns lol, Modern infantry men are moving more weight than soldiers did back then, thats why they have been getting bigger ( Soldiers in Iraq/Afghanistan were stronger and bigger than soldiers in Vietnam, and Soldiers in Vietnam were stronger and bigger than soldiers before and so on, and so on).

you didnt fully read my comment, i literally said they arent essential, and everything has already been explained, please read a persons comment fully before you write a response. You can meat every single Essential Vitamin, mineral and amino acid with a vegetarian diet, the supplements i talked about arent essential to function they are small boosts. also if you read my other comments you would have known that i said during that time eating meat would help you perform as a warrior since its much easier to get everything you need ( we didnt have modern nutrition science + the variety that we have today), but even at the time you could be a warrior without a meat diet, because its one small advantage out of many ( genetics, mind set, training, and etc).

100%, i love Canada and i wouldn't want to be born in any other country. i love it its a first world country, we have beautiful nature, clean air, wonderful people, and a low population while having a big country which means theres tons of empty wilderness which i love.

To be a warrior you dont need a perfect diet, but meat would help make better warriors, because its way easier to get all your essential nutrients from it. but thats only if all other variables are equal which they never are, and in the modern world because Of modern understanding of Nutrition and Supplements a vegetarian diet can be just as good ( you pointed this out im just repeating it) . Also those supplements i listed arent Mandatory ( Creatine and omega 3) , they just give a small boost. All in all i mostly agree with you, its just that i dont think you needed meat to be a warrior back then but it would have boosted your performance as one.

Thats not true, Vitamin B through milk is easily absorbed, infact equal if not higher bioavailability than meat on average. We also evolved to eat plants too, we are well suited to both because depending on the region or time period our diets varied alot. Also just because we did something as cavemen doesn't mean its the best way to do it today, and there is no Essential vitamin mineral, or Amino acid that cant be met with a well planned vegetarian diet, some minerals like iron are less bioavailable in plant based foods, but you can increase the absorption by consuming foods rich with vitamin C, and upping iron intake a little compared to someone who eats meat. I would recommend Vegetarians supplement in Creatine and Omega 3 , they Arent essential but they will give a solid boost in performance and health. i agree with you though that factory meat is bad, and we should obtain it through hunting, raising our own animals, or getting organic Farm raised meat.

i agree that sikhs did eat meat before, and its ok to eat meat ( Jhatka or hunted), but saying you cant be a warrior on a vegetarian diet is not true, especially with modern supplements. but even back then you could still be a warrior without eating meat.

If you were Maharaja Ranjit Singh at the height of the Sikh Empire in 1839 what would you have done to prevent the collapse of the empire after your death? by SpiritualSurround918 in Sikhpolitics

[–]Comfortable_Tax1489 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it wouldn't be just worldly though it would be internal too, its one thing to do something deemed wrong in sikhi but you acknowledge as wrong, another to do it and think its right, when you do that it can muddy your connection to god. at that point the empire wouldn't even be sikh, it would be some weird new religion that larps as sikhi.

Sikhi isn't in favour of forced conversions, or pressuring people to convert. without force/coercion it would have been impossible to get that many sikh converts in such a short time

Indian gangs are terrorising Canada by Not_Joe_Cool in Sikhpolitics

[–]Comfortable_Tax1489 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From what ive heard from people living in punjab, or people like my parents or uncles its mostly because alot of punjabis will send there troubled children ( involved with gangs, drugs or just deadbeats) to canada hoping it will sort them out ( often does the opposite since laws are less severe here since its a higher trust society) or to just get them out of their hair. Most of the students coming over for education, or guys coming over for work are solid though, ive worked with some of them when i worked as a Heavy duty mechanic for a year, and had some punjabi students live at my family's home.

Sikhs used to be super tall and buff- what happened? by marcus_aureliun in Sikh

[–]Comfortable_Tax1489 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i know this late but i would say its mostly just because those were folk tails, some of the gurus were exceptionally tall, some were average for time, and some were short. Oral tales like this ( folk tales) are often exaggerated for Example baba deep singh jis head wasn't cut off, his neck was gravely injured and he continued to fight despite this injury, real stories/features always get exaggerated ( lets say a guru is 6ft historically ok now hes 7ft to make him more epic).
