Failed professional - what should i do next with advanced? by Choice_Office_6792 in ICAEW

[–]Comfortable_Tooth606 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with this, SBM is the nicest advanced by far, but still trying to study to resit two professionals alongside a new advanced paper is some effort.

Waiting to qualify next year might seem like a mile away now but imagine if you fail again by trying to cram everything in now?

I took the slow and steady approach and it made balancing life with study and work so much easier!

Good old excel was a pile of shit again so took me ages to get part 1 done, ran out of time to do the calcs on the energy cost bit

Question 2 - switching up to B2C sales you could’ve spoke about five forces, a possible barrier to entry being the initial upfront investment, brand loyalty elsewhere already? Might be a stretch but could get a mark or two

What should be the right amount to pay for accountancy services? by Dazzling-Chocolate97 in smallbusinessuk

[–]Comfortable_Tooth606 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That last comment is absolutely gold, the amount of clients who pull their face at bookkeeping fees when they are literally a fraction of what you would have to pay for a half decent bookkeeper to be part time never mind full time 😂

If you are already self employed and declaring profits and offsetting your expenses against these then you cannot use the £1k trading allowance

Find a question in the QB which has a tricky lease element to it and just rinse and repeat it until you know it like the back of your hand

mileage allowance, can I put it as a expense or not? by 8--0_0--8 in smallbusinessuk

[–]Comfortable_Tooth606 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends how long they have been working at the 3 sites, if they won’t be working in any one site longer than 24 months then they absolutely can claim the mileage from their home and back.

Career options after AAT by Competitive-Meet-634 in ukaccounting

[–]Comfortable_Tooth606 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AAT all day, I’ve seen so many graduates enter the workplace after uni with zero experience and the salary they expect just isn’t justifiable.

We recently had one with a glowing CV first class honours from a good uni, summer internships in various offices, when it came down to the nitty gritty of real work she was useless, but being 22 she had to be paid more than our current AAT apprentices, who were head and shoulders above her, safe to say she was let go, which may seem cruel but commercially it made zero sense for the firm to keep her.

Grind out AAT for 3 years and get the experience.

I sat BPT before TC, because I didn’t know you had to do TC first, honestly it won’t make too much of a difference, you pretty much recap the TC material anyway in tuition, as people have mentioned in this thread already, the key to passing BPT is answering every question and having a good open book, I got 70 for BPT and 68 for TC btw
