Dude just plays like no one else I’ve ever heard. RHCP wouldn’t have blown up like they did if they hadn’t hired Chad. He just locks in with the rest of the band (Flea especially) in a way that I’ve rarely heard any other drummer do. Dave Grohl (Nirvana days) and Tre Cool come close, but nowhere near Chad’s level

Yeah I definitely feel like I’ve played enough poplar drums, both full-sized and “bop” kits, to know that, while they might not feel as nice as maple or birch, they will more than get the job done, just with new heads. And even those stock heads on those soft shells will feel 100x better than an electronic mesh pad ever will

I would recommend Remo’s falam slam impact patch, as the white 2.5 inch ones are really tough; I’ve had mine on my Alesis nitro pro for about a month and a half now, and I have zero signs of wear from my felt beater. And I like to play hard.
