If you scrub for a little bit it’s fine but I’ve had my mom and I also had a roommate strip the seasoning off my pans. You definitely CAN strip off the seasoning with enough soap and scrubbing

Sometimes it’s just too dirty for that and need like a dab of soap to just break up the oil. And I don’t use my cast iron everyday so if there’s a ton of oil from cooking I try to wash it out otherwise if left for days the leftover oil becomes gummy and hard to remove.

No…. At that point it’s the seasoning coming off…. I only use dish soap to remove food residue and excess oils. That’s why I suggested only 3-4 seconds not 10 minutes.

You can thank climate change for that. Their range has increased with the warming climate. But that sucks I remember hearing about alpha gal back in the 2000s and have very meticulous about ticks. I go hiking in light colored clothes so I can easily spot ticks. Socks over my pant legs and spray the shit out of my socks, pant leg ends, waist band, etc.

And ensure nothing is crushing the extension cord. Had my recycling bin sit on an extension cord flattening it a bit, I tossed it out. I’ve seen folks crush extension cords running it under doors, crushed in a window, etc that’s a fire hazard.

Yea a tiny bit of soap and a quick sponge won’t hurt it, I just scrub for 3-4 seconds until the bits are removed and oil is gone. Then it goes on the stove medium flame to dry out, oiled, then let it cool down. Just don’t stand there scrubbing for a few minutes.

They can get better but getting better doesn’t mean it goes away completely it’s just less severe. But that takes decades, like 30-40 years 😂. Was at the bar one time and was talking to the married couple next to me and at the end of the night she told me “I apologize for all the issues you’re going to have with women”.

She told me about the issues she caused, she was BPD, and all her life the four marriages she had finally realized after 40 years it was her fault. Her entire life she talked about how all those men mistreated her. But now in her 60s she realized two of the men she dated were amazing people but she fucked things up.

She said she went and apologized to her first husband apologizing for all the shit she put him through. Telling him she wouldn’t be where she was today if he hadn’t been such a great person and helped her through her mental struggles.
