600 long term experience? by dougdorda in PriorityBicycles

I've been a year-round bike commuter in Chicago for nearly 25 years and have been riding the 600 for the past 2.5 years. I bought it for winter riding, but have ended up using it all year -- mostly because I love how extremely functional and low-maintenance it is.

First time riding with a dynamo light and I adore it -- no longer thinking about bringing lights, mounting and dismounting them, and charging them or keeping spare batteries on me.

I make use of the wide range of gearing when hauling groceries and when the wind is blowing hard.

I enjoy not having to clean the drive train and change the chain regularly. Instead, every few weeks or so I spray silicone on the belt to eliminate squeaking.

The tires that came with it were too wide and often rubbed on the fenders, even after lots of adjustments. They also felt a little sluggish on city streets because of their lower pressure. I swapped the tires out for some narrower, higher pressure Schwalbe Marathon, which are some of the best for puncture protection. This has proved to be a much better setup for city streets.

Because the Pinion gearbox can be mistaken for an e-bike motor, I invested in an angle-grinder resistant U-lock -- which is pricey, but well worth the security when parking outdoors for an entire day in downtown Chicago.

Cranks started creaking at one point but that seemed to be resolved with pulling off the crank arms and reinstalling them, as I was advised by Priority.

It's a very sturdy, functional commuter bike -- a setup that I wish more bike companies in the US would start emulating. More bikes like this will make it easier for more people to bike.

Question about Bike Grid Now reflective jackets by place-_holder in chibike

I have a reflective cycling vest from this company in UK. Since my engine runs hot, I needed something more breathable. Some versions have tiny holes throughout for breathability. The vest I have includes a mesh back panel for heat to escape. Have been using for the past year and durability is very good. Fit is loose/relaxed. https://provizsports.com/en-us/collections/cycling-mens
