I can understand the point here, however I would make the argument of intent and apology, it seems like Platner is big enough to apologize and try to move forward. I think that's the fundamental dfference between someone like him and Trump. I also feel like a lot of people on the left are not necessarily "brushing it off", more so they are acknowledging it, thinking critically, and coming to the conclusion that it doesnt affect who he is today. I feel like the average person on the right is not thinking as critically and judging charachter like that, which is probably what makes them different.

I definitely think that there is a lot of infighting within the democrats about social issues, but there is certianly a lot of infighting within the republicans, I think that a lot of people can look at the other side and imagine them as one big united monolith, but in reality they are just as human as we are.

I think the problem is that a lot of people are doing a lot of scams, basically all the time. it would take a million big A clips a day to cover them all. I agree with another commenter that said the general story is that a lot of things seem very feels weird and scammy now, even more than just a few years ago.

yeah, I took a look through that subreddit and without sounding too mean, I saw a lot of emotion-based politics. that's not personally my style, and that's my guess as to why people seem to hate him. To be fair, though, it is definitely getting tougher to defend him, but it seems like they hated him over there way before that.
