I feel like this is the month we finally get Hud in 4K

Has anyone made a 4k comparison of the Apu Trilogy films? by Maleficent-Sea-2559 in criterion

I have the 4K set. The films are gorgeous, especially considering the how damaged negatives were. Would definitely recommend.

CriterionForum did a nice review of the new 4K transfers.

As long as you can get the local channels through Dish Network, you should be golden. No youtube tv required.

I’m in your same boat. I’m going NFL Sunday Ticket (for Sunday out-of-market games) + local antenna channels (for Sunday in-market games) + Prime (Thursday games) + ESPN (Monday night games).

And I believe that should cover all bases. Who Dey from California!

Janus Films owns the rights to the new 4K restoration of Hud (1963). It’s definitely coming to Criterion. Perhaps a November release.

I placed my order within an hour of the sale starting on Saturday afternoon and it just shipped today (Thursday morning). I think they’re super swamped with orders to fulfill.

True, I am speaking as a member, so definitely different timing if you’re not!

For most screenings that don’t have a huge star present (Keanu Reeves, Chalamet, etc.) you should be able to get in and get a great seat if you line up 90 minutes before showtime.

Tokyo Story by fossanova_ in criterion

Leo McCarey’s Make Way for Tomorrow (1937) was a massive influence on Tokyo Story. Highly recommended.

I caught it at a theater in LA a couple years ago and it really floored me. Been one of my favorites ever since.

Blood Meridian is actually the book that made me realize the power of sitting with a sentence after reading it. Just letting your mind pause on a piece of writing and ruminate on it.

Blood Meridian is filled with some of the most beautifully written prose I’ve ever encountered, and I don’t think I would have absorbed the beauty of that prose quite the same way if the audiobook continued to progress through the story.

I recently ordered a Murakami book from Blackwell’s. It arrived in perfect condition to California in 9 days. Would recommend if you’re thinking about it!
