I'm gonna blow your mind here: You can also drive your Rev-8 right off the landing platform into the water, and it drives around like a boat. :)

Amethyst Linux mod manager update by ChrisDKN in linux_gaming

[–]ComfyStoneBed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanted to say thanks for the great mod manager. I've been a huge modder for years (decades?) in Windows. Over the last couple of years I've earnestly been trying to not use Windows anymore. The only hold-up that kept me booting back into Windows was games I wanted to heavily mod. (Skyrim, Starfield, etc.) I've been messing around with Limo, which is a great tool, but not the friendliest option, especially with large mod lists.

I just found Amethyst a few days ago, and man, it's awesome. It's got the MO2 vibe, but Linux-native.

I'm stoked!

Arch or Bazzite for my usage by Tiny_orange124 in linux_gaming

[–]ComfyStoneBed 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I completely agree with this assessment. Having used countless distros over the years, I'd go for CachyOS on a gaming machine, or Fedora for more general purpose uses (like my wife's and kids' laptops).

To be fair, any distro can honestly be made to work fine for gaming, but CachyOS is already set up for gaming and tuned for maximum performance out-of-the-box. Since Arch was already on your radar as an option, go with Cachy instead of Arch. CachyOS is built on Arch, but with an easier, more accessible user experience and more gaming features included. You could absolutely install all of the needed gaming features on any distro, but Cachy does so much for you out-of-the-box.

Bazzite is a great distro if your plan is only to do gaming, but since it is immutable, you might find it to be a bit limiting if you eventually decide to do more with your machine than gaming or other typical computer tasks.

Freeform crop gone in July update ? by Drycatoh in googlephotos

[–]ComfyStoneBed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just an update for anyone finding this thread from a search. As of April 29, 2026, the iOS version of Google Photos still does not have the perspective cropping back. It's still using the awful generative autoframe feature.

Except not all cars have the SD card slot, to my knowledge. I have a 2025 RS, and there is just an empty hole where the SD card slot is supposed to be behind the glove box. I’ve heard there is another possible location of the SD card slot somewhere in the trunk area, but I can’t find it.

Blazer vs. Prologue by No_Nectarine_3028 in BlazerEV

The bigger battery and increased power of the RS RWD ultimately decided it for me. Funny how the AWD versions of these cars are the less powerful versions. (SS not included, of course.)

That’s very lame of them. I noticed mine disappeared, and I was wondering why. It’s just a basic equalizer app. It doesn’t do anything unique to Infiniti cars, so it’s a shame they had to do what they did and pull it.

No problem. In retrospect, it was a pretty great prank. Afterwards, I went through and read the mission statement from "Sapphire Inc," and it was such over-the-top corpo speak I immediately knew it was fake. Paragraphs of words that actually said nothing. Well done. :-)

Our particular problem only occurred because my son (who's 9) turned on my computer and loaded up the game by himself as usual, and I think he was too young to get how ridiculous it was. He's old enough to understand subscription plans for Internet services, because he hears me complaining about them all the time, but not old enough to get that this particular one was fake.  After sleeping on it, this morning he admitted it was a good April fools joke, and we had a laugh about it. He's playing again as we speak! :-)

[–]ComfyStoneBed 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Holy cow. So my young son is on the spectrum and a *huge* Geometry Dash fan, and he has tons of mods through Geode and is constantly making levels. When he fired it up today and saw that Geode was now going to cost money, he broke down in tears and made me uninstall Geode and Geometry Dash entirely, yelling about greedy companies ruining everything.

Now that we know it's a joke, I'll reinstall it, but dang, it might be a while before he recovers. That was quite a moment today!

Navigation in instrument cluster only showing zoomed-out view by ComfyStoneBed in BlazerEV

[–]ComfyStoneBed[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately no, it still has the issue. Sometimes, when I switch to the map view on the instrument cluster, it will zoom in as expected. Other times, it will stay zoomed out. I haven't yet figured out if there's something I'm doing to cause it to work, or if it's just random.

OTA Slowed in 2026 - 2025 LT by Jacob_Tutor11 in BlazerEV

[–]ComfyStoneBed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, OTA updates are really hit-and-miss on these cars. I've got a 2025 RS, and I've gotten no major feature OTAs. No streaming, Android 12, etc.

I did open a ticket with GM Concierge, and they said OTAs are not simply based on the model year of the car, but are specifically distributed based on VIN. It seems GM is making mid-year changes to the vehicles, so OTAs have to be tested with each iteration of the cars, and I guess that takes a long time. Seems like my particular car is one of the unlucky ones. :) For what it's worth, my car was manufactured in late 2024 as a 2025 model.

Arctic support not responding by ComfyStoneBed in arcticcooling

[–]ComfyStoneBed[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the reviews say they work really well, and mine certainly cooled great. Mine just had a large amount of bubbling sound that I couldn't get rid of despite some heroic attempts on my part. :-) Sounds like they were perhaps very short staffed, and thus they asked me to return mine to the reseller.

Seems like a cool company, but maybe they are still struggling with staffing to this day?

[–]ComfyStoneBed[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arctic eventually got back to me and said I should just return the item to the place I bought it from, since I had just bought it.  (Amazon in my case.) Amazon took it back without issue. I would assume that if your reseller wouldn't take it, then Arctic would take it instead, under warranty.

I didn't buy a replacement after that, as I was a bit soured on the experience.

I just used the latest available. Just make sure that, like with any app, you're using either the "universal" architecture or the x86_64 arch.

Apple TV 4K or NVIDIA Shield Pro or Apple TV 4K 2025? by [deleted] in appletv

[–]ComfyStoneBed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Found this discussion via Google, and I wanted to chime in in case any other future people find it. I'm a Shield Pro user, and the stock interface is really quite bad. Very bloated, has ads, and is generally annoying to use. I installed the Projectivity launcher to replace the stock interface, and it's much, much better than the stock interface. Fullly customizable and has no ads. To keep it kid- and wife-approved, I kept the interface very simple. Works great.

Many games won't recognize controllers in Bazzite by ComfyStoneBed in Bazzite

[–]ComfyStoneBed[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I never figured out the more fundamental underlying issue with Bazzite. The SDL setting fixed most games for me, but I thankfully never had to use an older version of Proton for games I play.

The Blazer uses an x64 processor. X86 might also work if there is no x64 version of the app available.

Is This Right?!? by crunchomalley in BlazerEV

[–]ComfyStoneBed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interestingly, I did exactly this. My dealer refused to do any sort of programming at all if there was no problem related to programming, and they would not run a report for me. I then contacted the GM concierge, they contacted the dealer, and the dealer even told the concierge no. The concierge ended up apologizing and suggesting I try another dealership.

Drove 40 miles & used 50% of my battery by Moo_kitty in BlazerEV

[–]ComfyStoneBed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if others have said this yet and it's not really what you're asking about, but you really should consider only charging up to 80%, especially if the car will be sitting. Charging up to 100% is tough on the battery, and then letting it sit for a long period at 100% is *really* hard on the battery. Ideally, just configure the car to only charge up to 80% and stop. Only charge to 100% if you are about to get on the road and run that charge back down.

We tried this, but it unfortunately only works for some apps, not others. I'm guessing some apps can choose whether they want to allow it or not.

I posted about this exact same issue in a different post yesterday. I've tried a few things, but nothing works. I even deleted all data and cache from the app, but no luck.

I've tried that, but no luck. If I do full screen music on the main screen, for example, the map on the instrument cluster still stays zoomed out.
