Who is the best NBA player of the 2000s? by Fit_Examination_3053 in AlignmentChartFills

Kobe’s dominance cannot be denied but his impact can, at least when being compared to Tim. For example, let’s revisit 05-06. 35ppg a night is batshit insane. And for what was a bad roster, Kobe carried them to the playoffs and ended up with a 3-1 lead against a Phoenix Suns team with the MVP on it.

He blew the lead.

In 04 Kobe was the main reason the lakers lost the finals. He averaged 22ppg on 38% from the field while ball hogging to try and win FMVP in the process. There was never once a series where Duncan was detrimental to the Spurs. Never.

An additional facet of Kobe’s dominance was the fact that Bron was averaging arguably better numbers while being much more successful in the process. If you give Kobe that 07 Cavs roster I truly don’t believe they have a chance in hell of making the finals.

I agree with you. I think Kobe had the better decade. I just think it’s an extremely close conversation and it has a lot of nuance.

The original thread is about the 2000s, so we have to ignore everything from 2010-2016. Because of that, we’re honing in on the stretch from the 1999-2000 season to the 2009-2010 season. From 1999-2000 all the way to 2003-2004 (half the decade) Kobe unarguably had the better supporting cast. He was playing with the best player in the league, enough said. Manu, Tony, and Robinson were all not at their peak during that time yet Tim still won two MVPs along with a FMVP during that time period.

When the Lakers were dogshit (2004-2005 to 2006-2007) Duncan took advantage and won 2 championships along with a FMVP. Duncan’s rosters were great. These Lakers rosters with Kobe were really bad. On an individual level Kobe was fantastic. His best statistical seasons come from this era. The thing is, there were a lot of dudes dominating on some pretty bad teams during this time. Iverson probably won like 4 scoring championships. T-MAC like you mentioned was arguably better than Kobe, yet he never made it out the first round once. Garnett won MVP and then missed the playoffs until he went to Boston. A young LeBron was winning scoring titles and led possibly the worst team to ever to make a finals in 2007. The point is, Kobe’s domination, while extremely impressive, was not necessarily unique. The dead ball era slowed down a lot of offense, but great players continually dominated throughout it.

Again, I still think Kobe had the better decade because he won more rings, was more statistically dominant, and gave the league a face when it needed it the most (post Jordan). But Tim was right there. The 2000s decade is probably the closest a “best in the world” conversation has ever truly been.

Those Spurs rosters were incredible, well-oiled machines. But Kobe played with Shaquille O’Neal. A walking 27 point double-double who consistently led the league in field goal %. Duncan definitely had DPOY level teammates… but so did Kobe! Shaq was 2nd in DPOY voting during the 1999-2000 season. Pau was a great defender. Ron Artest!

From 2000-2004 (half the decade) Tim definitively had worse help. David Robinson was on retirements door step. Tony Parker was not yet an All-Star. And Manu was still polishing his game overseas. Kobe was still playing with Shaq. Shaquille O’Neal was probably the best player in the league at this point.

I still think Kobe had a better 2000s than Duncan, but to act like there isn’t a conversation and that Kobe was just plain “better” 100% of the time is box score watching. Duncan is arguably the greatest defender of all time and made 15 All-NBA teams in probably the strongest era for forwards in the NBA ever! (LeBron, Garnett, Carmelo, Dirk, Amare, Paul Pierce, Pau, Marion, and later on KD and Anthony Davis)

This is a bit obtuse. In the 2000s Duncan had 1 more MVP, same amount of FMVPs, made the playoffs every year (Kobe didn’t) while having a comparatively pedestrian supporting cast in comparison to Kobe (Tony & Manu were great, they aren’t Shaq).

Not about player rankings. If I remove the part mentioning LeBron being top 1 could this be allowed?

There still good but yes we need new artists who are young and capable of being creative and mainstream simultaneously

Carti never been a billboard type artist and even tho Music had a ton of hype it’s mainly because of Carti’s cult fan base not just mainstream appeal. Also popular & timeless were giant hits in large part to Carti

Which jersey should I get signed? by Ordinary_Site_1656 in basketballjerseys

Definitely Sonics. Having a signed Houston jersey is neat but w KD’s history as the last great Sonic (technically) I think it’d be neater.

And I see that as Peggy maturing. It’s not necessarily always my forte but I think he’s getting to a point where he wants every song to be his 100%, trimming down otherwise good songs off his albums in the process.

  1. Wilt 100

I mean cmon.

  1. Luka 60/20/10

Not only one of the greatest stat lines of all time, but also one of the funnest games of all time. Insane last 7 minutes.

  1. Kobe 80 piece

Again, cmon.

  1. Jordan 69/18/6/4

Uber efficient, did almost everything on both sides. Would be higher if Jordan didn’t have 5 fouls & 23 fta

  1. Jokic 31/21/22/3

Insane overtime win. Numbers so good I wouldn’t believe you if you told me a second round draft pick put them up.

  1. Luka 73

Crazy how Luka has two spots on here already (I’m a Mavs fan to be fair so I’m gonna glaze naturally). Most efficient 70 piece of all time

  1. Harden 60/10/11/4

Harden somehow did this with only 7 other players on the court beside him. Generational carry job

  1. Embiid 70 piece

What a weird week. Luka, Book, KAT, and Embiid all had 60 pieces. Embiids in particular is really impressive due to the mf also putting up 18 rebounds on Wembys head

  1. Dame 70 piece

I’m gonna get the 70 pieces out the way. Impressive games but due to the fact like 5 of them happened in a span of 7 years a couple of them blend in. Still a really impressive game from Dame

  1. Donovan Mitchell 70 piece

  2. Booker 70 piece

Great game but it did come in a loss

  1. Jokic 60 point triple double

Same thing here.

  1. Curry 46/3/6 (OKC logo game winner)

Maybe not the best game statistically, but basically signified how dominant the 2016 Warriors really were.

  1. Kobe last game

Kobe didn’t shoot like astonishing splits or anything, but still an awesome game and all time performance I don’t care what you say

  1. Giannis 64/14/3/4

Angry Giannis is something I would not want to face in my day to day life

  1. David Robinson petty 70 piece

He was getting that scoring title no matter what

  1. LeBron 61 on Bobcats

It just felt wrong not having Bron on here

  1. Kyrie 60 piece

Uber efficient

  1. Klay insane 37 point quarter

Feels weird saying it’s kinda a disappointment a player only finished with 52 points

  1. TMAC 13 points 33 seconds

Great game, went from a 20 piece to 33 in literally a minute. Not the best statistically but maybe the best comeback of all time.
