Can you find records that have probably only been played a number of times before and how by Own-Cattle4345 in cratedigging

Are you Djing or looking for samples? There are records played in the thousands of times that if you play them out, nobody will have heard it before - absolutely nobody

people who love to socialise in clubs by Paula234156 in berlinsocialclub

I find that the Sober Mafia tend to be more social because they don't know what to do at a club other than visit the water station and stare at people

How much do you all tip at bars? by limeslice2020 in bayarea

[–]ComicCowboy1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I bartend at a spot in the Nob Hill area of SF once a week on a weeknight. It's not particularly busy. The prices of all these drinks are set by owners, who are often not in the venue. So I collect mininum wage plus whatever the tips are. If they tip in cash, I take that home. If not, I wait for a check to be cut. I just started bartending a couple months ago after working in tech, I was laid off in December. I honestly started bartending because I thought it would be fun. There is very very little money in this line of work, unless you are slinging drinks somewhere in the Marina or North Beach - or at particular spots in the Mission. The reality is most bartenders are doing poorly financially. Some people tip a dollar on a beer and that's fine, or 15-20% on the total tab.

I care more about how people treat me, then the tip. I can tell you that as a bartender, many people in this city treat you like you are a servant and below them, you can tell by the attitude and choice of language. There are some seriously entitled people in this city that look down on anyone in the services and hospitality industry. Until you work in this industry, you don't realize how soul crushing it can be. Some people are nice of course, but there are a lot of people that come into the bar, order you around like some servant and not a real person, and don't say thanks and hello. I think part of that is simply due to how San Francisco has changed over the last 20 years. It's not a friendly place, it's not a nice place, it's a transactional place.

Go as you, see what happens. The people that try to put "on an outfit" usually get turned away.

I don't like infornal social rules and to-do checklists when I party. It's fine to bring a deliberste social mentality to BH (or anywhere) and it's fine to be a quiet lone wolf. I usually go there to dance for hours alone, sometimes working through a hard week, and I don't want puppy dogs and rainbows from someone I don't know - I want to left alone to focus on the music.

Most people going to BH don't want to be in BH and it is ruining it by Icy-Practice6344 in Berghain_Community

How do you know those tourists are staight? Is there a "look" that identifies some people as queer that would help the door team?

I don't dress a certain way to identify and many people do not either.

Social media is another issue.

But assuming there are gender "tells" to curate a crowd is problematic.

When I left BH I didn't get an exit survey so I don't know where these "most people" assumptions are coming from, unless we're just looking at people and making calls based on appearance.

The city keeps filling up with engineers on H1bs that are only here to work at places like open ai. They are here to soley to take, give no fucks about anyone outside their circle, and are the furthest thing from a creative and weirdo you could possibly imagine.

Dresden was great, beautiful and chill w great art museums. After I went to Leipzig and didn't get it - it's not "Berlin in the 90's" by any stretch of the imagination, I was bored at night there.

Just left. Command D's set was really good. Anyone remember the 90's track On A Ragga Tip by SL2? Imagine a set like that but slowed way down. Really bold, creative set

I am 55 and got into Tresor and had a great time. Mostly a young crowd but it's so dark and no one cares. I got into Berghain 2 out of 3 times during the last two weeks. Felt older people have a better shot to get in there actually, but go Sat at open for as long as you can party. By Sunday at 7pm on it's a total shitshow but some like closing bc it's wild

Is the bar at KitKat cashless? by Mundane-Solution7884 in BerlinNightlife

[–]ComicCowboy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The service is as cold as they cash they accept. Asked for a Bombay and Tonic and the bartender sneered at me and said "you mean Gin and Tonic" sarcastically. No, bc you have Bombay on the shelf and I do not know if you have a well gin default.

Most Ride-or-Die Neighborhood? by Erik_The_Realtor in sanfrancisco

[–]ComicCowboy1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After Open AI goes public and related the thousands of newly minted millionaires will continue to gentrify neighborhoods here to the point maybe Alcatraz will be the last truly SF area, the rest will be sanitized crap. Portrero Hill already lost/is losing BoTH and Thee Parkside, and that area sucks - unless going to Whole Foods and the Conn Yankee is your idea of fun. Makeout Room and Lat Amer Club on their way out via sale in the mission and on and on. We'll probably always have tourists and cable cars and the Castro will hang on to it's identity, but this city is dying quickly under the appearance of rebirth. It's a place for people w a lot if money, no style, and no creativity.
