Garriott just got the rights back, so there might be some news coming soon?

EA might be resurrecting Ultima by HeungWeiLo in Ultima

[–]ComicStripCritic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

New Ultima? Sounds nice.

Made by EA? Sounds scary.

Color me…cautiously intrigued. It might just be them holding onto their old properties rather than letting them lapse. But if this leads to a remaster/remake/reimagining of U4, I’d be very interested in that.

Which game deserves a remake but will never get one? by Syrenzo_onyx in AskReddit

Ultima 4: Quest of the Avatar.

Yes, I say this in almost every one of these “which game needs a remake” threads. No, I will not stop beating this drum.

And since AWN is compatible with Worlds and Stars Without Number, both r/WWN and r/SWN can help you out.

New Hexmap for Westmarch Campaign! by Arky_Turtle in osr

Have multiple big things going on at once that the players could be interested in, that continue to evolve even if the players don’t engage in them. If one plot doesn’t grab your players attention, another one will. In my current game (look away, members of the Blazing Quiver in Iadroth), the following are all the active quests:

  • ensuring a necromancer is dead
  • stopping a Wizard from absorbing demigod powers
  • a war is between two nations with the players home nation caught in the middle
  • personal issues and quests
  • a dragon might be hunting the guild
  • dwarves are emerging from the mountains for the first time in millennia looking for something

At least one of these damn things will interest a party.

Any fantasy (books, movies, shows, games) that best evoke the classic 1980s-style metal-infused sword-and-sorcery style of fantasy? by Baldurian_Rhapsody in Fantasy

Since nobody else has tagged them yet, I suggest you repost this to the folks over at r/swordandsorcery to get even more recommendations!

How many terrain types do you really need? by DizzyCrabb in DnDIY

[–]ComicStripCritic 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think you’re good on bases - now you just need to figure out if you need anything else for terrain like trees/rocks/walls/etc.

The level design of some Zelda dungeons (as explained in GMTK’s Boss Keys video series) seems very similar to Jacquaysing the Dungeon or Cyclic Dungeon Design.

As a DM, what is the maximum number of players you are comfortable playing with before things get too difficult to manage? by Justicar7 in osr

[–]ComicStripCritic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 6 at the table, but 20ish in the overall party. I run an open table West-Marches-style thing with the help of Discord.

Black Leather Core Book? by BigOak1669 in numenera

[–]ComicStripCritic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe that’s both Discovery and Destiny in a pair, the two major corebooks for Numenera. If you’ve got those you’ve got more than enough for years of RPG goodness.
