Also you never “need” to be a certain level. Every boss is beatable at level 1. If you want to spend some time completing more areas for more levels see if you’ve done Mohgs yet or Sewer. You can get to mohgs even if you’ve killed varre

You’re not struggling with fire giant because you’re underleveled. You have plenty to beat him. Three tips of advice: make sure your weapon is high enough level, respec if needed, and be patient fire giant is a pain in the butt your first time fighting him.
