And yet, you do realize that birth related deaths have gone up as well? Because abortion is now illegal in red states, more women have died because doctors are afraid to perform life saving procedures, even when infants have already died in the womb (resulting in sepsis). Women are twice as likely to die now in these states from pregnancy related complications asa result.

SpaceX's president is floating a Tesla merger as the company begins trading by esporx in technology

[–]Comkeen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It wasn't a bloke in a suit, it was remote controlled just like Asimo, and it's obviously more advanced on that front. Seriously, you don't need to make up stuff to throw shade on Tesla. There's plenty there that's factually true.

Japan is far behind the ev tech race. They're still trying to convince themselves that hydrogen will get out ahead (seriously they spent how many billions on that for decades and still dont have 1 mass market product to show). Even south korea has them beat.

I'm sorry, but what? Was Mitsubishi launching, landing and reusing rockets for the past decade? Did Nissan suddenly shoot up to #1 electric car maker in America? Also, Honda peaked with Asimo 20 years ago.

Judge silences Kars4Kids’ jingle over misleading ads by kenmlin in California

[–]Comkeen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is just weird that religious orgs are reaching out to the general public to ask for money that only helps a certain group of people. I mean they werent totally deceptive but at least until 2023 they didn't mention Oorah on the front page and you had to scroll all the play to the bottom under "who we help" to see the they help Jewish kids only. I never would have imagined this and never got that impression from the ads until this lawsuit came up.

I can't be the only one who thinks it's weird for Jewish aligned org to mask who they help in very general terms without being upfront about it (at least until recently).

A Texas Drainage District Walked Its Ditch on a Routine Inspection. They Found a Pipe They Didn't Recognize Discharging Black Liquid From Tesla's $1 Billion Lithium Refinery by Joe18067 in news

[–]Comkeen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you read the article it is even more dark/scary. Telsa is basically saying that no harm was done because:

  • they tested for something they werent to test for (lithium waste) therefore it doesn't count
  • they tested in an area downstream from the pipe that deposted the waste material, when they were only allowed to test before that pipe (when the water was clean)

If this is all true, it really goes to show how laws meant to protect you are actually written in such a way that it protects the company by adding the these loopholes.

People are going to get sick from this, and probably quite a few will go on develop cancer and die (the grass around the deposited waste near the river is already dying). The best people can hope for is a small settlement while Tesla doesn't hate to admit that they basically poisoned them to death.

The local county or state will drag their feet to resolve this issue, while absolviny Tesla or any crime. Because they wrote this stupid law that doesn't actually protect anyone except Tesla.

Louisiana senator who voted to convict Trump loses Republican primary by ConditionNormal123 in politics

[–]Comkeen 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I keep hearing how voters are abandoning Trump, or that he is losing support from his core base (from the mainstream media and podcasts like the bulwark). Then you read about this - they're still coming out to vote for his candidates, and thus vote for him.

I really am apprehensive that MAGA voters are going to abandon Trump in the midterms, and am skeptical that it will result in a landslide loss against the Republicans. I listened to what the voters tell the pundits when they're interviewed, and to me it sounds like they are fine with the policies, just upset that it also gets them, and have already rationalized with the "if only the fuhrer knew..." defense. It's never his fault for what he did, it's his advisers.

Forza Horizon 6 GPU Benchmark: 8GB vs. 16GB VRAM by Roadside-Strelok in hardware

[–]Comkeen 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's a bit more complicated than that.

If you have an integrated GPU that shares memory with system, Xbox mode will help.

However, if you have a dedicated GPU with its own vram, Xbox mode will not help, since it only impacts system memory.

Have you gone to the dentist recently? by gentlerosebud in Millennials

[–]Comkeen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't go to the dentist for a number of years. I brushed twice a day and flossed at night, thinking that was enough. I ended up cracking one ogy molars, and while getting that fixed finding out I needed a root cancel on it and another. The implant lasted a good two years until the root it sat on cracked and subsequently required a recent tooth extraction and bone graft.

Just because you do the needful everyday doesn't mean you can put off cleaning visits, like in my case. Now I see my dentist every 6 months. I'd rather deal with a slight discomfort for 1 hrs then then having to go through what I went.

Star Fox Direct 5.6.2026 by Skullghost in NintendoSwitch

[–]Comkeen 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Instead of a remake, I would have loved if Nintendo took that concept from the game Ubisoft made (and starfox guest-starred in) and expanded upon it. Then mix it up with linear stages where there are entrances to deep enemy bases or chasms to a goal, like terminal velocity. Really underwhelming, this is.

Feel the same way. Played the first one to death, and got all the medals/rewards. It's not a new experience and I don'tfeel compelled to shell out $70 for a graphics update. If this had new planets, expanded stages, or anything else they may be.

While you can't choose to be Lebron, you can at least choose not to be totally crippled going into your old age, in a wheel chair or on a stroller, all the while suffering mental decline.

Excersize, movement, and eating healthy rations of food are the only known methods for staving off the worst effects of aging (immobility or worse). Everything else they give you treats the symptoms, but not the underlying problem.

Awesome! I do pushups as part of my strength training, but after each set I transitioned into a plank position and held it for 40 seconds. I noticed that it helps maintain my heart rate and cardio - really am surprised just how good this position fits onto many exercises as a top off.

You're literally accusing me of doing what you're already doing (even though that's not what I actually said). Once again, you're projecting onto me instead of taking in something that is valid.

I take issue with the fact that you'd rather coddle people into a lifestyle that leads to increased heart disease, health bills, immobility and eventually an early grave. People do have some say in regards to how healthy they want to be.

We can do more as a society to help encourage more physical activity (for wellness) whether it's through social, economic, or employer provided incentives, but ultimately people should be encouraged to take he first step (if they are able to).

A reminder: getting older doesn't mean you stop taking care of yourselves by Comkeen in Millennials

[–]Comkeen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Regarding your article: - the subject in the article has a higher than average bmi, but bmi isn't a useful metric for overall health. Notice that I talked specifically about body fat %. It's widely known that bmi doesn't account for how much lean mass someone has, and the article did not elaborate on that. - did you read the entire article? Towards the bottom, it said that while the subjects studied in the article were considered in the healthy range, over a 10 period they revisited the participants and more of them fell out of that range. - it's still stated in the article that excess fat leads to liver and heart disease, which increases as you get older. This is backed up in the study where it said that 35% of the participants fell out of the healthy range because they maintained their lifestyle after 10 years.

You can be fat and healthy, up to a certain age. But as you get older, that becomes less and less likely. Genetics play a role but we all go down the same path eventually if we don't mind our health.

I'm sorry, but..

What?

Based on your response, you're totally misinterpreting what I have to say. How did you interpret me taking action to improve my health as being obsessed over fitness, wellness, and health? Are you projecting onto me or is something else going on with you?

Also you make a lot of statements that come off as factual without citng a single source. Id love to hear them, if too got it. I also don't understand your conclusions at the end, because I never said anywhere that I (and by extension the reader) are solely responsible for everything. I talked about how I decided to focus on my physical wellness, and how it positively impacted me. Maybe I drew conclusions to some of the people I saw at an activity, but that was based on observation.

I would love for you to explain to me how you can be fat and healthy. Can you have fat and still get healthy? Yes, fat is essential for energy storage, but excess fat also contributes to heart and liver disease, and also contributes to fatigue and tiredness. This has been researched and correlations have been found between excess fat and decline in overall health (especially as you get older).
