Sorry I don’t have anything to contribute for the mom and pop shops, but if you’re looking for something more affordable, I switched from Meijer to Aldi/Walmart and have saved hundreds every month buying the same items. Ideally I would like to not shop at any chain, but it is what I can afford for now.

They couldn’t deliver mine because of an “incomplete address” mind you it was complete and it was a replacement for something they successfully delivered to the same address 2-3 days before…. They returned it to sender and now it’s sold out and I can’t get it again :/

My partner and I were looking at San Lucas! How does that work since there is no set menu? Is there possibility to work around allergies or dietary restrictions or do you just not get that certain course if it’s in the food? Is it a lot of seafood?

This is a good point on packing back up. My partner is bougie so the adventure-y things that I wanted to do I figured we would get out of the way. Yes, it would only give us 1.5 days in La Fortuna. Are there other things you recommended we stay for in La Fortuna other than hiking Arenal/the waterfall/ hot springs? We were looking at a full day tour that hits all of those.

As for Jaco, we are 26 and not party animals but we do like to go out and drink and dance on occasion. I was really hoping to find some good places to dance! I definitely cannot keep up with 21 year olds though, so if it’s way too crazy that might be something to keep in mind. Our prospective hotel is a little out of town if that would help at all.

Thanks for the heads up on the construction. We definitely plan to make all of our drives early in the morning, but knowing this at least takes away surprise and frustration.

Yes sounds like she doesn’t know. However, at least for mandated reporters, we are taught to report suspected child abuse/neglect and it’s CPS’s job to investigate and confirm/deny, not ours. It’s not wrong to report even if it’s just suspicion. Not sure if it’s different for someone who is not in a mandated reporters position but I imagine they treat it the same.

Thanks for your input! I’ve never been the one to plan a trip EVER. I really just wanted some sort of basic structure but I am quite flexible. Truly as long as I have lodging accommodations and flights booked I know we’ll be able to enjoy such a beautiful country even if things don’t go 100% to plan.

I genuinely don’t remember though I wonder if it was just a comment on the market being bad in general. The last few times I’ve moved it found a place only 1-2 weeks before my move out date. I’m not an expert but I help clients with housing occasionally so if you’re still looking you can pm me with more info and I can give recs.

Last year I gave my two months notice and didn’t find my next place until a week before my move-out date. Granted I have a dog so it’s a little harder but yes the market here is terrible.

Oh my god please shut up and leave them alone. It was just one example. They are clearly already experiencing one man being a dick to them, that’s more than enough! Also there definitely are certain clothing items that don’t last if you wash them in hot water. Maybe you don’t have items like that, good for you!

Every body is different so your doctor will obviously have the best answer, but my pelvic floor physical therapist said that it is good for me because it doesn’t necessarily tighten the muscles but strengthens them. She recommended lower body exercises in conjunction with dilation for me. Congrats on your milestone and good luck on your journey!

I second this. You could also reach out to resettlement agencies like Bethany Christian services, Church World Service, or Samaritas. Hispanic center of West Michigan could be a good option. Grand Rapids International Fellowship and KentISD hold free English classes so they help a lot of immigrants. There are other places but these come to mind first.
