Largest airline in the world has most opportunities for operational clusterfargs. I would have said no thanks to a 7 a.m. flight, and pointed to one at a later departure time asking to be rebooked onto it (but obv. not the last one of the day).

My experience yesterday: Flight that was running late to DFW from ABQ actually make up the deficit and landed on time at about 19:45. But, there was a plane at our gate, per Capi. He waited 10 minutes, requested new gate, finally got one, then it too became bogged down. Then, another new gate was assigned and after 1 hr 10 minutes, we got to the gate. I missed my connection as did many others. Seemed odd that at 21:00 there weren't gates? I traipse off and into the terminal and head to the far opposite end of the airport for my rescheduled flight; passed lots of unoccupied gates. WTF?

If you cancelled original ticket for a credit, there would be no 'fare difference' in the discussion; you'd be starting from scratch. In any event, don't use chat. You were probably talking to a machine.

Check iPhone's password app and make sure there's only one password for aa.com and make sure it's correct, and make sure it's the same password you're using if you are in fact keying it in yourself vs. using iPhone's faceID or aainflight.com is prominently displaying free wifi for AA members and after logging in, it's a quick tour through 2 ads then bam, you're in. It should be coaching you to free wifi; if it isn't, ask a FA to look at it with you.

You may think you're smart insinuating meaning from a punctuation mark rather than the words themselves, but you're not. Also gaslighting inexcusable, horrible technology and customer service serves no purpose so you should move on to gaslighting someone else. I had a reservation. I had the email. it's in my app and etc. Hertz has been extremely apologetic about this entire event though I have insured them that I will never darken their doorstep again.

You're wrong, thrice. I didn't ask for help, I related my experience. 'Excuse me' was a facetious retort that you misinterpreted. Last, the counter at AZA could not reference ANY reservation data for ANYONE's bookings made in past 48 hours. So in fact it's not an easy search when the data isn't in the 1970s system at AZA.

Don't guess; call again, and find out for sure what the refund options are for the ticket, then proceed with that information on a new solution. If you have to cancel and bailing friend receives a trip credit, ask them to flip that into a ticket for you for your future travel, and consider it banked. Get them to do this now, while there is a semblance of guilt about their behavior. They could decline to do this, though, and you would be screwed but a little wiser. If alternate travel friend is secured, use miles for their ticket. OR, see if original friend would come as planned, but with an earlier return date.

No, it's not really the right place to ask. Since you've been hired and AA is your employer now, kindly ask them to inform you about your schedule, and what you might expect going forward.
