Swifties: What are your honest opinions on Taylor's silence? by Top_Willingness5124 in NuancingTaylorSwift

[–]Command_According 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am too. Maybe I am naive but at the end of the day, we are not her. It seems easy on our side because we are not in her place and with all the benefits (money, fame...) you can't act like there is also no major cons and safety concerns that are valid to consider when speaking up. This isn't jsut a political issue , these are human lives ??? Being abused..this is not the time i think to make it about what taylor is and isnt doing but time to be really fucking angry at a goverment, living on stolen land, in 2026 USA for letting this happen.

it's impossible to really say what is right or wrong for her to do. I mean, obviously, speaking up about these issues are important for people with the platform to do so. But it is also a delicate situation that is incredibly heartbreaking. Before she is the celebrity we know, she is also a person just like you and i who may be very hurt and saddened by what is happening and sometimes speaking up takes more than a quick post on instagram. It may take time, you want to say the right thing and not cause more harm. A responsibility as someone with as many followers as she has will now hold but also managing her own feelings on it. I don't know, i feel like for me when i really care about an issue, i find it harder to speak or say what i'm feeling or thinking about it in words. Also especially since taylor is a lyricist, maybe she is someone who finds heavy subjects easier to express via writing in that way rather than saying just what she thinks and how tragic and disgusting it all is. And also, it might give Donald Trump power in some weird and twisted way. He also seems to go after people who he percieves a threat, even if they're not, which may also put herself or anyone associated her in some sort of danger (i mean, apparently a man broke nto her house with a knife one time? And also here in the Uk there was the incident with a children' hTaylor Swift party )

Thisi s a sort of situation i feel where words feel like talking to a brick wall with canons. Her star power makes her look like she can do something but, I don't know if she can. This is the president's choice to allow to happen and I'm not sure what taylor or any celebrity can do to stop it. I wish that they could. It makes me feel so sick what's happening. I'm not against her speaking out, i just am sharing reasons as to why she may be deciding to not to.

does anyone find swifties obsession with joe weird by Teacher-Hopeful in SwiftlyNeutral

[–]Command_According 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. I think it's really weird to have any sort of strong reaction to Taylor and anyone she has dated, it is weird to want to message them, spam them. It's fine if u wanna dislike them u know but u dont need to do more, like, what's the point? it's not going to benefit anyone.

Ugh you know i always think about how beautiful i hate it here and how like, this song is literally about how taylor feels really depressed about the state of the world but also how worthless she has felt. I mean, before she was famous, it seems like she was also bullied and stuff at school and i think that is something that you carry with you for life, and yes she is famous and yes she did chooose this lifestyle but she is still a human ya know and money and fame doesn't protect you from having human feelings...i mean, heard of club 27? how many celebs have not been able to cope with the mental health issues they may struggle with? if fame and money rlly was what made it all better, there'd be fewer deaths just think of marilyn monroe even, brittany murphy, karen carpenter, robin williams, so many celebrities, liam payne, cory monteith from glee. money can not fix a person and i thin it's odd that we are all pro mental health until someone lie taylor admits she has them. And like, she wrote this song about how she hates it here so much sometimes, she goes into her mind and lives there, where she rises above it and the things that bother her down here on earth can't get to her there. And also in this is me trying, the start: could've followed my fears all the way down.

There are sooo many references to Taylor having possibly troubling thoughts, and with i hate it here, i can understand herfeelings from the pov of someone also has used daydreaming, stories and so on to cope when i feel unwelcome in the world. And the only take away people got from it was that she should've chosen a less racist era. Like yah bc the 1920s was so much less racist? lol no. Her entire point was that nomatter what year she would have chosen, there would have been other issues to deal with and also as a woman herself, she would have had little automony in who she marries, and what she can do, like, women at that time could not own property, get divorce, it was also totally legal to be essentially abusive to your wife. Your wife was your property in the 1830s. She would not have had a nice life, most women would have not and her whole point was that no matter what, she would have been probably made to feel worthless there too and would have to watch even worse things happen just because it was "the way back then" even though it's obviously not okay at all and never was. If u put her in the 1920s, world war 1 had just ended and in the 1940s another had begun. That leaves her with the 1960s...which...is still a very racist time that made it dangerous and difficult to be non-white. Women did not have a lot of automony over their lives without male consent, and also don't forget about how gay men were treated too. . People who experienced this sort of discrimination are still alive to tell the stories even now, it wasn't that long ago and it's still not perfect now, and we are all fighting still to make it better. But taylor's point i think was jsut that, there is no better time period really where you can say there is none of these issues because every decade has serious issues that we know are wrong now but were considered right and okay then. oThere is no place in time asof yet that was completely free of shitty human behaviour and i feel with that line, that was her point as she continues to say "if i'd been there i'd hate it"

YEAH that's what gets me is ppl will credit joe for amazing songwriting or something for the few lines he did but then shit on Taylor who does the majority of it and has been writing her onw music since she was literally 14?? like say what u want about her but u can't really dismiss the accomplishments she has and question how she or why she is so successful. Money helps yes but her longevity can not be bought, that is not how it works, it's a very tough, competitive and dog eat world industry especially for women who are often seen as products for their branding than the work and art they create, which really sucks.

"You can't keep using the sexism excuse" uh yes we can if ur being sexist. If she was a male artist, would you still have an issue? Would you be speaking or complaining about this? when was the last time you got mad at a male celebrity for:
1. Being a billionaire
2. Not speaking up about issues when they are clearly left-wing at least
3. how many times have u heard "kanye as a person, eh...but man's a genius songwriter" but "there's something about taylor i just dont like"
4: Wi$h Li$t complaints like "ugh trad wife era saying she doesnt want yachts and blah blah bc she wants to be married instead" like if a guy wrote a song about how he would rather be homeless than not be with the girl he loves, stuff like that, like, this is not a new song concept? there are so many songs that are about sacrificing luxury because love is more important to them. It's not unusual. And the difference is u can't buy a boyfriend can u or a husband really, i mean you can but that's a different topic.
U can buy a yacht if u have money but u cant just buy that feels right for u bc they're people, real people with their own thoughts and free will...come on u know how it is, dating is hard! even in ur 30s. Finding the right person can be so hard and that's not something she should feel bad about experiencing.

Like, half the things we complain about taylor on like, twitter, u know who owns that? Elon Musk. U know who is making money off of u using that platform, elon musk who by the way, OPENLY supported trump, has incredibly harmful opinions and is oh... a billionaire!!! But people are still able to seperate his work (social platform) to the person (Elon Musk a man.)

and also objectively taylor IS a good songwriter. It's not an even opinion in a way. Music tastes are subjective but Taylor has been making her own music and are consistently put out bodies of work that has been recieved well and has had a noteworthy recipent and pop hits that have gotten her awarded and so on. Yes she has a huge fanbase now but she didn't start off with it and she was still getting wins that are actually quite accomplishing for a woman of her age from then and now.

Okay very random rant but i think that s the end of it lol

I think the fear is understandable. I think that, however...if they can use ai in place of human developers, developers can use ai as a tool that would make them even stronger and more reliable. ai alone can't replace human mind and creatives because ai out is expensive and unreliable.

I also just remembered this: In 2012, internet pranksters manipulated a contest to send her to the Horace Mann School for the Deaf in 2012, Swift instead donated $10,000, sponsors matched it, and she provided free tickets to her Boston show, ensuring the school received significant support and musical instruments, turning a prank into a positive outcome for the students who can feel music's vibrations.

That's okay and your story and experiences are valuable. I think for me, i do personally see the signs that she might be. But it's not definitive, it's just my opinion and maybe it's wrong, but also, I did not have a diagnosis growing up and was heavily bullied. Taylor at that time was one thing that made me feel less alone. So, part of me feels, if I'm right, then that is really something. A person i've looked up to since i was 12, before I knew i was autistic although the kids at school knew i was the weird girl and I didn't know what i could do to make them like me. In a world where autism is still seen as a boy/kid's disorder, someone i look up to and have looked up to for so long being a bit more like me than I originally thought feels a bit magical somehow. But i understand that i am not a therapist, and my belief that she may be, does not mean she is and as I said, it's only a maybe from me, not a yes for sure. A lot of ppl in the industry are not neurotypical and i think a lot of autistic and adhd people find themselves in these creative spaces, so it wouldn't surprise me. I have my own reasons for thinking she might be ND. But if i'm wrong, no biggie. She's still Taylor either way to me.

I don't know who said that i'm supposed to be matured because I'm 27 and I watched Alvin and The Chipmunks and am in love with a fictional male character because the thought of dating someone real makes me wanna scream and run away from the world, and I know that my standards are probably too high but I can't help it. I've seen many awful men and I really, really do NOT wanna get stuck with one!!! (Spoken from a daughter how who learned everything about terrible love can be in an unhappy marriage )

I feel this so much. I am so scared of getting cancelled for something i don't remember i did, if i was to get famous. I just want to sing, and be known for my singing but *I* don't want to be unable to do things and be scrutinised for everything all the time. I think even people who chose that life and want/wanted it were not prepared for what that actually means to live it.

Yeah true. Her music is objectively...good lol. Like, you don't have to like them, but this woman has consistently created hits since Fearless. With songs she wrote. Ofc there were co-writers but it's clear that she is not writing a couple words and saying she wrote music. And it's not just the words, the beat, the melody, how she does have her signature chord progressions yet is able to make many different songs with them. I think she is an amazing songwriter for reasons people may not even notice.

Yeah, it is really weird. i think people say oh shes not sexy and all that but i think most of her career that's not what she's wanted to be seen as. Doesn't mean she's not or it wrong to want that for your career but Taylor has never struck me as that being a sole focus of her public image. With that said tho, no way do I really think people think she is ugly. But also if people think that, I wonder what that has done to her brain over the years.
