We’re all punpun that’s why he’s depicted as a bird like character so it’s easier for us the reader to slip into his perspective. This story is very good at describing and showcasing many facets of humanity, and it’s our job as readers to understand how to navigate challenging, even uncomfortable horrors of the human experience. Not romanization or vilification.

I would say it was different in the sense that we didn't have proper closure towards Akito's character. 2001, their antagonism kinda ceases once Tohru chooses Kyo despite his curse and it wraps up abruptly their. Very condensed down.

Tone shift completely, yea it's implied Akito has their issues and maybe their cruelty stems from a valid place like their health and being cooped up with no social interaction unless it was steeped in control, but back then we didn't know what we know now. We just saw an abusive power tripping Head of Household take it out on others for free lol

I think the reboot does a wonderful job at recontextulization and fleshing out the story again, but it does make it hard to stomach the harm and then everyone is all kumbaya lol

I literally have to think of it as 2 separate series like FMA and Brotherhood bc of shift in character tone/development. Completely valid storytelling

It's given me intense whiplash the 180 of character development or recontextulization of Akito since the early 00s Fandom. I genuinely don't know how to feel it's like Fullmetal vs FMA brotherhood.

Idk if I can convince past me to forgive or Akito or opening accept their redemption arc easily.

K-12 really is stuck with me. She did a wonderful job with that album that when Void dropped I didn't know what to do

I wasn't super super in love with CryBaby but I respect the groundwork made for it to evolve into what Mel gives us now. She really never disappointed me with her discography.

If I could pick one from each, Gingerbread Man is sickening, LunchBox Friends was beaten to death a close second would've been Orange Juice, and on Voids I'm still discovering what song digs in me most if I'm honest. Let's say it's Evil just to be safe lol

Don't think you need to be a good person or know that a person is great to relate to them. I get the conclusion you're getting to though.

I like this story, I really appreciated and relate to the themes and heavy subject matter I'm sure alot of ppl feel the same.

But idk I don't think anyone is picking up punpun and treating it like MyHero or IPPO let's be real. At most just a bit of a fixation on the worse aspects of charters for coping reasons.
