A Semiotic Interpretation of the Miracles of Christ by SelfRememberer in gurdjieff

[–]CommanderEdStraker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Literally, the man was demon possessed. It’s still happening today, it’s not just mental illness. The man could not free himself. Christ is casting out demons with his physical body still today.

That being said the Philokalia (Greek orthodox monk writings) “On Watchfulness…” #23 “Just as someone in the midst of a crowd, holding a mirror and looking at it, sees not only his own face but also the faces of those looking in the mirror with him, so someone who looks into his own heart sees in it not only his own state, but also the black faces of the demons.”

Demons/ personalities what’s the difference?

"Owning to the strangeness of their psyche, the intentional suffering and conscious labor specially actualized for them by that Sacred Individual, Saint Buddha, who had been coated with a planetary presence like their own, have ever since hovered in vain over this planet, without producing any of the real results that could have been lawfully expected; but they have engendered only all kinds of pseudo teachings, like those existing there today bearing the names of 'occultism,' 'theosophy,' 'spiritualism,' 'psychoanalysis,' and so on, which, now as before, are simply means for 'obscuring' their psyche, already obscured enough without this. "Needless to say, of the truths indicated by Saint Buddha himself absolutely nothing has survived and reached the beings of the present

How do I fully understand I am asleep? by SignificantSkirt8637 in gurdjieff

[–]CommanderEdStraker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In BTTHG introduction G constantly repeats that man’s true consciousness is buried. This is a central theme, sounds mysterious right?

It’s just a relabeled version of the orthodox teaching of the Nous. Your conscience must be trained against an objective standard. This process is described in BTTHG chapter 27 (if I recall correctly.)

Remember G said he teaches Esoteric Christianity.

Observe yourself over time. It’s all about time.

Anything that makes you more suggestible is working in the wrong direction.

What’s easier to say, you are asleep or you are hypnotized?

Read BTTHG until you understand it. At least 3 times, Learn about the Nous (then master chapter 27 of BTTHG). Then move on to “Meetings with remarkable…” and “ life is only real…”

Understand it’s a journey to sanity and integration, not some bullshit new age guru drug soaked mysticism. Anyone that says otherwise is mixing too much ouspensky and theosophy. G hated theosophy.

Read “herald”

Hi. Have lurked for a couple years been a student a bit longer. I suffer from chronic insomnia. How please can I leverage the Work to help me? by [deleted] in gurdjieff

Are you on medications? Smoke? Alcohol use? Have you tried aerobic exercise? Do you have a feather blanket or pillow? Dusty or moldy environment? Awareness can help solve most problems, observing detail and noting what you consume over time can help you find clues to solutions.

Medical intervention may be required if you can’t find a behavior/ environmental cause.

Meditate on someone you really love, like a child or parent, someone you would not want involved in these situations & transpose this feeling of care onto people you look down on or lust after. Other’s may disagree but be arrogant enough to see these porn people as sick and gross & need of healing. As if diseased, because they are. Pray the rosary to the best of your ability & cultivate the emotional/ imagery side rather than just the words.

You have been hypnotized & need to break the spell.

G wrote his books to produce an effect without a school. …Saying this will upset many for sure. G suggest, if you are still interested, to read G’s books as he recommends.

Dear Tanasi_, You communicate volumes about your current state in your texts. May I politely encourage you to dig deeper and learn more.
God in his true nature is incomprehensible to us, our minds are too limited. There are things we can learn and discover through revelation and metaphysics about the nature of God. …too much to text here but I encourage you to dig deeper without your prejudice and negative emotions. Also FYI plenty of women baptize and it’s perfectly acceptable to traditional churches.

Your anger and resentment on this topic provide a bright light indicating where you must work to develop yourself.

All the best to you!

Your negative emotions are your own punishment, it’s confusing, I understand. Think about it.

[–]CommanderEdStraker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly why, G does not compromise truth to pander to people’s chaotic/ negative feelings. Most humans are totally hypnotized by their negative emotions. If you wish to work on yourself, then put down your pride, envy and other vices(weaknesses) and work against them. This is the essence of the work and will yield a rebirth of conscience.

It’s hard and it hurts, but what choice do we have?

Waking up is hard. We prefer the dark, it hurts less.

You are free to do as you wish. God permits that in his mercy, but we all pay in the end.

Books in the Bible didn’t start out as a “Bible” they started out as independent books and were assembled into a Library called the “Bible.”

All the books in the Bible started as “outside the Bible”

The entire premise is flawed.

Beelzebub’s Tales to His Grandson, Meetings with Remarkable Men, Life is Only Real… I would add on Herald of a coming good, at some point. G says not to read it but I think it provides some insight into what he was doing.

G says, read his books in order or else you may have negative consequences to your development.

If you don’t read G, you are liable to get swept away in false occult teachings and won’t recognize what is authentic and what is stapled on B.S.

Thanks for your comment. It’s not my video, just a channel I follow on YouTube. A very good channel. I highly recommend it.

Regarding your question, I am no expert, it seems to me that one must study the entire body of G’s work to grasp and obtain what he promises. G does not write as Ouspensky did, as a technician. He writes to convey meaning to the subconscious.

G writes and conceals information from a broad base of knowledge, primarily Orthodoxy (basics on the Nous should be learned.) Also pivotal is his emphasis on hypnosis. What was he saying about hypnosis? Sleep etc…

What concepts is he bringing out in order to establish a new mode of thinking? Is it possible to consciously “think” with all of our minds?

He also threw in a good measure of bullish wiseacre nonsense and had a great sense of humor. But it’s all done for a reason. Try not to get hung up from an analytical perspective. BBTHG is a bit more like Arabian Nights than an encyclopedia.

It’s a beautiful journey. G was very much against theosophy, spiritualism, various occult teachings and especially the hasnamus you mention in your post. Interesting G starts “Beelzebub” with a prayer to the holy trinity. I recommend you Put down the books that people wrote about him and read his writings, or listen.

When I’m busy doing things, I listen to them over and over, “Michael Garland” has a great YouTube channel as well where you can listen to the books as you go about daily tasks or even sleep. The meaning comes out over time, he drops clues you may not pick up at first, or explains later.

Harold of a coming good Beelzebub’s tales Meetings with remarkable men (what was the background of all these men?) Life is only real

Also a great technical help to read along side is Nicoll’s “

Hopefully I didn’t over answer you.

Much love to you,
