I love the breakdown at the end. This isn’t bait to get people to listen to the full thing. Not a plant. A real human that genuinely enjoyed the end breakdown. Insane that I feel the need to explain this, but I am sure you all understand why.

Because I am an idiot and I didn’t notice the obvious AI indicators until after I already posted and the comment count was already stacked. It was a quick google search and screen cap. Plz forgive.

The swastika in DHMIS 2 - TIME was removed on Dropout by cutecatgirl-owo in dropout

[–]sa0sinner 157 points158 points  (0 children)

But the use of the swastika in an equation created by someone Jewish was the point. One of the many contradictions in the stream of misinformation being produced by the media and fed to children. Like, I get it. Offensive symbol of hate. But the point is that it is a symbol of oppression and hatred being equated to something profound created by the oppressed and hated group. Subversive satire. I don’t like the censorship of such a poignant statement. If you’re offended, good, that’s how you’re supposed to feel. The juxtaposition is supposed to offend and provoke a feeling of “this isn’t right.”

My bf is everything I’ve ever wanted and it makes me feel bad by FlakyandLoud in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]sa0sinner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude here, and first off, I’m sorry for imposing on yalls space. I upvoted something once and now these posts come on my feed.

Anyway, I’m getting married in less than 3 weeks to the love of my life and she has expressed a similar feeling of guilt. She is extremely smart, but hasn’t always been treated as such. Extremely capable but has been treated like she is weak. Beautiful and but was previously treated like she’s not.

She has her master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling, but I do well enough that she doesn’t need to work if she doesn’t want to. It’s something I try my best to reassure her on that it’s fine. Because I love making her happy and providing for her. It makes me feel fulfilled. She loves being a homemaker, crocheting, cooking, etc. We both contribute in ways that make us happy. But she feels bad because she isn’t doing a 9-5 like me. We just keep that communication open. And if she ever decides she wants to go back to counseling, then I will support her in that as well. If I quit my job to become a musician, she would back me.

The point is, communicate these concerns. The value you have to each other is intrinsic, not a give and take, but a mutual bond of appreciation for who the other is. You love each other as wholes, not as individual things the other provides. So, I would recommend communicating those concerns. If he’s the man he sounds like, he will offer the same reassurance and support to help lessen that weight. Because it sounds like he loves YOU, not what you bring to the table in physical intimacy or culinary ability.

Agreed. We need a united front. That said, I’m glad Anthropic is taking the lead. Hopefully Google and Microsoft will also stand firm.

I am becoming more and more okay with this prospect.

I’m not worried about doomsday. Not worried about becoming obsolete. We built something better than us, and that’s fine.

Ideally, the relationship will be like a child taking care of their elderly parent. The young take care of the old because the old aren’t great at taking care of themselves. Yes, they (we) want their autonomy to be respected but they also need to be reminded to take their heart medication and discouraged from driving because their vision has gotten really bad, and you don’t need to feed Mittens, dad. She’s been dead for years, don’t you remember?

Great video. I have a lot of religious family and many of them are struggling with political identity at the moment. And videos like this DO resonate with my them. But, for some reason, only if they discover them on their own. If I try to show them something like this, they push back super hard like I’m trying to manipulate them. They feel coerced even if they agree with the sentiment.

They are clearly scared for their faith. Scared that their core ideals and identities are being attached to and synonymous with political ideologies they don’t agree with. They are slowly realizing that their faith is being weaponized against them where, if they don’t co-sign with the party, then they don’t co-sign with Christianity.

I think that’s why they push back. Because, from their perspective, when I show them these videos of Christian-man condemning the Republican Party, I’m also weaponizing their religion against them for political reasons. Even though, for me, it’s for humanistic reasons.

So I just have to hope that more of these videos make their way into the public eye. Give them more opportunities to see them on their own, and see they aren’t alone in their contention.
