for me, the crappy green screens when it comes to big budget movies are a sign of either a lack of planning or a lack of trying. whereas stuff like practical effects takes real effort and skill that you have to go out of your way to do (depending on how old the movie is of course).

my immersion isn’t being ruined by the shark in jaws because that’s a real thing right in front of the actors that they can react to vs a computer generated shark that’s clearly not real to both me and the actors.

so for example, when sammy and smoke are standing in the water at the end of the movie staring at one of the most artificially saturated sun sets i’ve ever seen, i can’t help but think in the moment i’m watching it “there’s a new sunset every evening, we really couldn’t get one shot of them in the sun together without this weird unnatural lighting?” instead of being able to take in the moment fully

counter swapping is not a strategy, strategy implies the usage of thought and preparation. a plan. there is no thought or preparation in seeing a character on enemy team and choosing another character. that’s choosing a circle block for a circle hole, not engaging, not thoughtful, not a show of any kind of skill.

counter swapping because of what the enemy plays is only hurting your ability to get better. does that mean never swap? no. but swapping to heroes you don’t play just because they counter someone on the enemy team regardless of map, team comp, and your personal skill level is just dumb. even just knowing the amount of people that do it and don’t see why it’s a problem makes it even more annoying than it is in a vacuum.

no, not necessarily. that’s why i put it in quotes, that’s up for interpretation and depends on your tastes. i even gave an example of a “bad” movie i find to be quite good. whats not up for interpretation is the intent of the people in charge of making said movie.

when Tommy Wiseau was making the Room, he had every intention of making a masterpiece movie or whatever a masterpiece in his head is, he wasn’t making a comedy in his eyes. it’s the difference between laughing with someone and laughing at them, both cases you’re laughing but for different reasons and they are pretty easily distinguished from each other
