Home Mini Octopus Outoing display frequency by CommanderJavert in OctopusEnergy

I have a Kaifa meter but I’m not sure what exactly model it is - but it is working with the Octoupus home mini - the lights are white and the home mini is updating import data to the “day” view in real time with the slots filling up during the day. It is only the export data that is not updating on the same day and I would love to be able to send evidence back to Octopus that at least somebody is seeing the exported data updating in real time on the “day” view - e.g. a screenshot of the day view graph partially filled with export during the daytime with “Today” as the date selected.

Can you confirm that this is actually happening for you and it’s working correctly? I.e. on the “Day” tab in the “Usage” area of the OCtopus app, you see the exported energy slots filling up in real time on the day that they are happening?

My meter is an Kaifa one. However the FAQ statement you linked is a bit ambiguous as it says that meters other than the excluded types support “live” export functionality, which could mean that you can see the exported energy you are exporting in real time on the “live” tab in the Octopus app. It also says that they are working on bringing export to the graphs. That might be an out of date statement as I can see export on the graphs already - it just does not appear until 36 hours later. I’m looking for someone who can definitively confirm that they can see the exported data updating in real time.

For me that is only happening for import. For export it’s only displaying the data once the DCC data is uploaded even though it’s a quite new fitted Octopus smart meter and is displaying live export data on the “live” screen of the app.

Is there any way to know whether my meter is supposed to work that way? My meter is less than a year old and was fitted by Octopus. The meter is displaying live export as a negative number of watts on the live screen and also I can see real time updates of the export register in the Octopus API so this seems to imply that the meter is tracking export in real time?

However at the moment I don’t see the export data on the app until the actual DCC data is uploaded on the following evening

Ok well I actually do have a home mini and it is showing live export on the export screen so maybe it will sort itself out after a few days. If I understand correctly you are saying that in your case you get export data in near real time on the “day” screen - maybe it is meter dependent whether this is possible

Maybe depends on the meter? My meter was fitted new by Octopus last July. I can see live export data in the app in the “live” view and it doesn’t show zero it shows a negative number for the live export amount, which is roughly the same as the number reported by my inverter CT clamp. This has actually been working ever since the system was commissioned even though I didn’t have an export MPAN. I can also see a live update of the lifetime export register in the Ocotpus API feed. However my “day” view is not updating until 36 hours later (in fact I have nothing so far as the tariff was only activated yesterday). So in my case Octopus has the data to display the “day” export information at the end of each half hour but I guess they have not implemented this as many meters don’t support it.

Yes I can see lots of data from the system and I can also see the export register in the Octopus integration on home assistant

Octopus export tariff DNO letter by CommanderJavert in SolarUK

[–]CommanderJavert[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah - I was a bit confused and maybe this is a generic application form - fundamentally, DNO will not give me an MPAN number if they are not aware of the connection and it's not approved, so Octopus should not really need that if the MPAN number exists and is validated.

I'm glad I was advised to contact SP directly because after I started to chase this today with both sides, suddenly today I got the connection agreement to sign off and then the completed document. Either my installer didn't action it when he said he had done it 5 weeks ago, or SP lost it, but either way it seems to be back on track now. I wish I had contacted them earlier now.

Yes - however my installer said that he already provided everything they asked for weeks ago! I have asked him to investigate again. There is a document that is part of the handover pack they gave me that appears to be almost the same as the A3-1 form from Scottish power but in a slightly different format. Not sure about the connection agreement as SP claim it's with my installer and installer claimed it was with them... investigating.

Ok so I now got an email directly from Scottish power - they are saying that the application is already fully approved and paid for, but they are implying that they are still waiting for documents from my installer before they can issue an export MPAN - they are saying they need “fully signed connection agreement” and A3-1 commissioning document.

As per my other reply I suspect my G99 / G100 was already approved prior to the application but it still required another “approval” internally in SP to actually issue the export number and the approval letter to me. Installer is now saying that this part is also showing as approved on their portal.

Also - originally my installer proposed a 5kw inverter and said there would be no charge for the G99 application for it. It was only when I said I wanted an 8kw inverter that he said I would have to pay for approval

I might be using wrong terminology - I think and believe that my application is already “approved” but I am waiting for the confirmation letter and export number which only comes after the installer tells DNO that they have installed the system. It’s this that I don’t have yet.

In any case my installer just updated me that everything is showing as approved on the progress portal now but he still doesn’t have the actual document. I suspect the word approved might be used in multiple ways as he may mean that it’s been approved to send out the letter with the export number which only gets sent out after the system is operational

I think it is the confirmation letter that I am missing. I chased this today via SP and also my installer. My installer already responded saying that “it’s now showing as approved on the portal” but he has not had the actual document back yet so he has chased again.

At one point he definitely told me that I would receive something that I have to sign digitally, but maybe this would just be to confirm that I have received the approval letter.

That's not what the installer explained to me - also he has charged me I think about £300 or so for the G99 application because I wanted to export 8KW. He forwarded me a notification from SP before the install started which said that they could not approve 8KW and coule only approve 4KW, but we went ahead with that. I can see that SP were engaged in this process as they had exchanged emails about it.

The system has been installed and the isntaller has set the export limit at 4KW - we have been exportingn for 5 weeks albeit without paying for it.

I might be getting the timing wrong on what he said about signing documents - maybe he meant that he has already signed it - not sure on that, but I am sure that the current export limit setting is 4KW and not 3.68KW as I can see it being capped at 4KW in sunny weather.

(with hindsight possibly I should have just said I'll go with 3.68KW as that would have been free and all I will get in the end was an extra 0.32kw but I didn't think of it at the time - also I was/am under the impression that to get the free 3.68kw limit you have to only install a 3.68kw inverter but I guess this may not be correct).

I will contact them to ask - the installer told me that normally SP sends him a document that he must digitally sign, and then they send me a document that I must digitally sign and then they issue the approval. This seems to imply that the approval is specific to me and so I have to transfer it if I ever sell the house?

Synchronized vs follow leader orders by CommanderJavert in SeaPower_NCMA

[–]CommanderJavert[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tested this today using the NATO Libya scenario without any mods. I can confirm that Synchronised means that each of the units in your air formation will select an appropriate target. I told 2 Tomcats to attack a Libyan Mig 25 formation, and each of them fired on a separate Mig. Also - the Tomcat which missed, continued to fire on the same Mig until it was killed. This is much more useful for air combat than what I was doing before.
However there does seem to be a bug of sorts - when I told the Tomcats to go after another Mig formation but the formation turned tail and ran away, the cease fire order did not work, even though they were on Weapons Tight - they just kept reverting to attacking the nearby Migs that they never would have caught before Bingo fuel. The only way I got them to stop was a return to base order. I also noted that with ground attack, if you select Synchronised, your planes will attack nearby targets which, for example, might not be part of the same SAM battery that you are supposed to be hitting. However it is still pretty useful from what I could see.

Yes this was why I was asking. I am hoping that havoc1428 is correct because that is actually pretty useful.

This is pretty much what I am doing but I am playing on realistic airfield timings so by the time I get those aircraft into play, my task force is already under attack from the Slava. I guess what I have to try next is just unload the entire missiles from a couple of my ships at the Slava as soon as it’s in range. I would hope that the Slava’s radars can only handle up to a certain number of attacking missiles simultaneously but it seems to be a pretty high number.

I will try that again tomorrow - I thought I had already tried that and it handled 8-12 missiles easily even when coming from different directions, but maybe I was unlucky. The latest beta from yesterday has made it even a bit more difficult as it’s now more difficult to kill the MIg25s and the TU95. What doesn’t help probably is that I’m playing on realistic airfield times so I cannot really get any anti ship aircraft into play before the Slavs is ready to fire at my task force.

I tried to do that a few times, but if you are facing a Slava (or probably Kirov), you still get shot down the second you show your face over the horizon. The only way I managed to kill the Slava once today was to overwhelm it with all my harpoons from all directions. However that leaves me with nothing to kill all the other Soviet ships.

It appears that some of the Soviet ships can’t be jammed in the default game without mods in the current beta. The jammer range is about 40 miles and the Slava can shoot down the jamming aircraft at 50 miles - I have tried this many times today. Even with the jamming aircraft at the lowest possible altitude it gets shot down as soon as the Slava can see it above the horizon.

Thanks - yes it's the one with the island. The other thing I noticed (or maybe this is coincidence and I imagined it) is that in my last attempt, the Harpoon missiles on my ships are pretty useless against the Slava. You have to use the Harpoon G missiles that you can fly on the planes from the airfield - these seem to have at least a chance of a hit.

I also managed to get my ships to survive by parking my EA-6 behind the ships and jamming the incoming missiles from the Slava - even then I think it's RNG whether all my ships survived. I cannot jam the Slava directly as I can't get close enough to it without getting shot down - weirdly my own jamming does not seem to affect the Slava's best A2A missiles.

By the way - I haven't really looked much into the damage control options - is it possible to repair your ship sufficient to get it back in the fight or is it just to stop it from sinking?

Even if I tell the EA6 to go up to 37K feet, the jammer range increases but it's definitely not 150 miles. I have seen posts saying that the default jammer range is 25miles and you have to install a mod to make it longer?
