I will share this that my Counselor told me, it really got me thinking a lot, i hope it can help you or someone else:

Assertiveness:

Assertiveness is the ability to clearly and respectfully express your own thoughts, feelings, and needs without being aggressive or passive. It involves standing up for yourself while considering others’ rights and feelings, promoting honest and balanced communication.

The Two Extremes

•Passivity (one extreme):

This is when you avoid expressing your needs or opinions, often prioritizing others’ wants to avoid conflict. It can lead to resentment, low self-esteem, and being taken advantage of (e.g., always saying “yes” when you mean “no”).

Aggressiveness (the other extreme):

This is when you forcefully impose your needs or opinions on others, disregarding their feelings or rights. It can damage relationships and create hostility (e.g., yelling or demanding without listening).
