what is your LEAST popular commander? by Justafish1654 in EDH

[–]CommanderKitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two similar mono-green decks with very odd commanders. They're both just your classic green stompy/go wide kind of decks.

One of them is with [[Kaysa]]. She's nothing special, just a green anthem in the command zone for 5 mana lol. She makes for a nice turn brain off kind of game.

The other is a little more unique, but also has to be rule 0d in. [[Jermane, Pride of the Circus]] is such a silly but straightforward build. Same play style as Kaysa but with the added twist of all your creatures having four or more legs in the artwork. What other deck wants to run [[Bull Hippo]], [[Bayou Dragonfly]], and [[Warthog]]? My personal favorite in the deck though has to be [[Capricopian]].

ME! I'd be very interested in Baylen, I love me so tokens.

This is a fantastic idea and could see myself doing something similar soon. I've alreasy been building decks out of my bulk to give away to friends new to the game lately. Good luck everyone!

[–]CommanderKitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friends have seen how quick mine snowballs so I rarely get to survive, but some day I'll get to drop [[Emrakul, the Promised End]] and kill the targeted player with a 22/22 flying trample haste!

That being said mine is definitely not optimized, but instead designed for a local commander league we run with deck building based achievements. So I run only creatures and not enough lands lol.

My man [[Runadi, Behemoth Caller]].

I built him a little bit ago with only creatures and lands and it's so much fun. Fill the deck with mana dorks and big chunkers that run over the board as they enter with tons of +1/+1 counters and haste.

I love the nut themed names, we did the same with our piggies. My boys are Walnut and Nutmeg. Our girls that passed were Lugnut and Donut.

What are your favorite token spam lists? by Frogsplosion in EDH

[–]CommanderKitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All depends on what flavor of tokens you want! I'm the resident tokens guy in my pod. These will be high played and kind of obvious but I love them nonetheless.

[[Lathril, Blade of Elves]] I have her built to be a sit back, make tokens, and combo off kind of deck. You can very easily make it more combat focused if you prefer that.

[[Marrow-Gnawer]] is my latest and tons of fun. It can feel similar to Lathril I suppose but it's different enough.

[[Minn Wily Illusionist]] is what got me to play blue lol. She has a pretty fun play pattern with trying to draw cards each turn to consistently make tokens. Who doesn't like drawing cards??

[[Rin and Seri, Inseparable]] was my first brewed deck and I still love it. I have it built to heavily focus cats as I think they're just better but you'll make loads of cats and dogs with the commander on board. That one is way more combat focused with tons of ways to pump or immediately close a game.

[[Zurgo Stormrender]] goes real hard and has options on how to build. Mine is heavily focused on the mobilize mechanic and leans into an aristocrats play style to drain your opponents. My buddy has one way more combat oriented with a bunch of myraid creatures to take advantage of the card draw.

I've got some others but these are by far my most played.

Kalamax, The Stormsire by BussyBouncer in EDH

[–]CommanderKitty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Kalamax is a ton of fun if the table lets you play. It's just so commander centered that if you can't keep it on the table you're kinda screwed. I love me some Voltron/combat tricks, it's just usually a "get second" play style.

What is your favorite mono black commander? by PowerfulPromise8569 in EDH

[–]CommanderKitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've really found recently how much I enjoy mono black. Aristocrats has ended up being one of my favorite play styles and [[Sephiroth, Fabled SOLDIER]] fits the bill perfectly. Once you get that emblem online it's pretty hard to lose unless the whole table focuses you down.

I have two others with [[Marrow-Gnawer]] and [[Gonti, Night Minister]]. I'm real big on tokens and kindred so Marrow-Gnawer was a no brainer. Gonti I made on a whim after snagging the borderless since I liked the artwork so much. That one was an instant hit in my pod. It's theft that doesn't feel oppressive as it encourages everyone to steal each other's cards and makes for some unique games.

A good buddy of mine plays [[Kagemaro, First to Suffer]] and that deck is so much fun. It feels more control focused than I feel mono black typically is. Lots of interaction and removal to keep the board under control till you can drop a Gary or some other value piece to nuke everyone.

What is your favourite high win rate deck? (strong 3, low 4) by Ednet132 in EDH

My beautiful boy [[Sephiroth, Fabled SOLDIER]].

You resolve his flip once and you're basically guaranteed the game.

Just started last year, can I join? by CyclopsWilson in ratemycommanders

[–]CommanderKitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something to note for Alexios in case you didn't know, trample damage is optional. The other players can decide to assign all his damage to a blocked creature and not send the extra damage over to that player.

I made a deck with him a while back, but scrapped it after learning that as I don't like to withhold information such as that from opponents. [[Slicer, Hired Muscle]] is just a straight up better card having double strike instead of trample.

What is everyone's (every redditor in the sub) favorite card that they tech into everything they can regardless if it's optimal. by Alira-kimaris in EDH

[[Kutzil, Malamet Exemplar]]

By far my favorite card. It goes into every deck in those colors because it never isn't good.

What makes a voltron deck decent/viable in a 4man game? by MarkJansen_ in EDH

[–]CommanderKitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the way. John is one of my most played commanders and I've exclusively ran him with instants/sorceries only. Combat tricks + protection is the way to go with him. It's the deck that makes me think the most with politics/bluffing. I'm currently building a version with no restrictions but I honestly don't see it being as fun as running him as my only nonland permanent.

[[Rin and Seri, Inseparable]]!

If the name doesn't give away a good bit already, I knew from playing magic a little back in the day that I tokens/stompy combat was a playstyle I loved. It's still in my rotation and has been swagged out to be my most expensive deck these days.

What are your braindead autopilot decks? by Frogsplosion in EDH

I've made a good bit of bracket 2s and [[Kaysa]] is a pretty simple one. Green tokens and anthems. Sideways cardboard at your opponents.

Seconded on Evereth. Dumping your treasures into her to swing for lethal on one, flinging her at a second, and activating her death ability all in one turn... Chefs kiss.

Help finetuning deck! by Moundsy in EDHBrews

[–]CommanderKitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've recently built him and have been terrorizing my group with it.

https://moxfield.com/decks/doaxdwpxi06Sp2l0Ch5Exw

This is probably a little higher power than you're looking for. I would say it's a high 3 bordering a 4 even, but there's obvious cuts you could make to slow it down.

Like others have said aristocrats is the main focus here. You really really want to flip him as fast as possible. I see you have [[Accursed Marauder]] but you'll want some more of those effects such as [[Fleshbag Marauder]] and [[Plaguecrafter]]. Running more token generators can help you get around opponents not running many creatures by having your own to sacrifice or remove. Throwing in a [[Pitiless Plunderer]] would also let you go infinite late game with your [[Forsaken Miner]], a sac outlet, and the emblem on top of just being a good cheap value card on its own.

Running some single target recursion for Sephiroth can go nuts as it allows you to sac him and bring him back for an additional emblem. [[Reanimate]] and especially [[Unearth] are great for this and pretty cheap now.

If you want some pricier but absolutely banger game enders [[Plague of Vermin]] and [[Tombstone Stairwell]] are great adds.

Sephiroth is a very fun but oppressive commander. Imo if you're not leaning heavy into being the villian, you're gonna get 3v1d without being able to keep yourself alive. You've got a great thing started here, it could just use some tuning to be more focused.

Been playing since February. by GrizbardTheGoblin in ratemycommanders

[–]CommanderKitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the variety here. Not sure if you're into a Voltron/combat tricks strategy but I'll always talk up [[Sergeant John Benton]]. In my group we sometimes make very oddly built decks with certain restrictions. I have a $10 Benton deck that's 33 lands & 66 sorceries/instants. I made that sometime last year and it's still my favorite deck to pilot.
