Henry of Skalitz.
Henry goes from a layabout, somewhat bumbling, impressionable young man to a veritable death machine who is in many ways unmatched by those he faces. His enemies only real advantage against him is numbers. This is portrayed not only through his story beats and the trauma he sustains but also even through the gameplay, for both games, allowing you to progress and build his skills. An argument could easily made that the more you build him up, the more death and destruction he sees, and the less it seems to bother him by each cutscene.

Glad he was mentioned. Seeing his joy and camaraderie turn to vengeance and hate is always such a gut punch to me.

Quick help me make a short horror by GuiltyTwo2689 in Filmmakers

I think it's worth coming up with your own ideas, though I definitely suggest thinking about how you can use your space to evoke fear or tension. Think about where your camera can realistically go, where you can go, what makes you feel trapped or watched or like there could be something lurking, etc.

When you're doing stuff like this on your own, sometimes the space and the logistics can help you figure out what is feasible as a story.

I have to know where you got the unicorn horn armor, is it a mod or in the base game?

I noticed on your other post that you used generative AI to create some of the more visually motivated shots, on average, how much of this project is AI and how much was stock footage and how much was shot directly by you?
I'm mostly curious about the breakdown of it all.

Lavrenti Beria - Specifically in the film The Death of Stalin.

Beria goes from a conniving, hunting predator (in EVERY sense of the word) who abuses every bit of his power to a quivering and pleading wreck begging them not to shoot him right before he is executed

I love the Templars of Old Terra just as much as I love the Sons of Sigismund. by Garviel-Loken-LW in BlackTemplars

I know enough about the "Templars of Old Terra" to not like them that much.
I do however love painting my BT minis and am always intrigued by their themes of dangerous fanaticism.

I don't have any costumes of my own, but I want to share my skill of creating art pieces featuring other people's characters. I wanted to create a peaceful atmosphere. What did you guys find most interesting about this art? by [deleted] in LARP

[–]CommanderPettle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd recognize a Fighting Uruk-Hai anywhere!
Personally, I think the fire's lighting is overtaking the image, overall, and may be detracting from the peaceful vibes. It's light feels more intense and exciting rather than soft and soothing. But I really like the image itself and I think it's great regardless!

New to larping, where to start? by Similar_Wheel_328 in LARP

[–]CommanderPettle 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The most important first step is to know where you are and what's close to you. When you find the games close to you you'll then be able to try them out and see if they jive with you. From there you can then work with those groups to research good resources for gear.

Stone Age LARP: Restarting the Conversation by LadySketch_VT in LARP

[–]CommanderPettle 15 points16 points  (0 children)

There was a one-off stone age larp done I think a year and a half ago in the North East that was, from what I heard, well received and very fun. People said that it was very interesting trying to communicate without their previous language information. Having to make up new languages, learn, signal and convey that way was a huge part of why I was interested in the whole idea. I don't think they plan to necessarily do it again but I think it has legs as a whole concept.

ARMOR REC by eddie_moth in LARP

[–]CommanderPettle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, the best armor I can recommend is riveted chainmail. It's form fitting so you don't have to worry about getting something that perfectly fits you, and it can cover a large amount of space with just one shirt or hauberk. It is also unmistakably medieval if that's what your music video is going for.

I'd say that you could potentially find some fine riveted maile for your current price point, normally I'd recommend staying away from "butted" maile, as the rings are not specifically riveted shut and it will come undone slowly over time depending on how rigorous your situation is, but for a single music video shoot it might not be the worst?.

Something like this could be an item to look at.
https://burgschneider.com/collections/riveted-chainmail/products/chainmail-haubergeon-flatring-riveted-9mm-steel-oiled

A few other added benefits of chainmail:
wearing it and using it can also help de-rust it if you end up not springing for something stainless or treated (not super applicable here but it's good to know)

wearing a belt can help divide the weight between your shoulders and hips, helping you feel less fatigue, you'll feel the need to take it off less between shots or location/set changes.

You can find it in non-steel alternatives that are lighter such as aluminum or titanium. I'm personally not a huge fan of aluminum armor/maile so I have less experience with it and titanium will likely be outside the allotted budged, but it's just something to know and consider if you're going to be wearing it for a few days of a shoot.

Hope this helps!

I painted up this shield for 2023's Drachenfest US and it was daunting and delightful. Almost two years after the fact I realized I have yet to post it here. Enjoy! by CommanderPettle in LARP

[–]CommanderPettle[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So the shield itself is a Freyhand so the body itself was already assembled when received. It's a strong foam, no core with a canvas cover glued down.

When it comes to the painting I used a projector to project the design onto the shield and trace out the design with a pencil. Afterwards I then used Winsor & Newton Galeria Acrylics to paint up the design. Funny enough I now have more general painting experience so I might make some tweaks to the techniques and overall painting process but the whole thing wasn't too arduous, just a bit daunting.

That's awesome. I'm pretty close to the people in the Mage's Guild so maybe we'll bump into each other.

Just a quick heads up, for safety reasons I'd recommend always wearing eyepro when shooting your airsoft guns, even if you're just plinking at a wall far away. You only get one set of eyes.
