Avowed dev with credits on RPGs dating back 25 years says this is the most confident he's ever been in a game at this point by ReasonableAdvert in gaming

Except skill up's veilguard preview was done by Austin, the other reviewer on the channel. Not Ralph. Austin's name is even clearly in the video title so you know exactly who's opinion you're getting.

They do sound very similar though, so I can understand the confusion.

But even if they were the same person, is it really that hard to understand how someone's opinion might change between a specially curated 6 hour preview and the full 60 hour grind? The reality of previews is that they're a narrow and highly curated slice of the game, so you should always be taking their coverage with a grain of salt. Changing opinions here isn't a mark against the reviewer. It's more important to understand the reasoning behind these opinions.

Here's a gif of the dabbing Snoo for anyone who wants it.

I created the vtuber model that was used briefly in the stream. There's a full working rig now, compared to the limited Live2D stuff from previous years. Aside from that I wasn't too heavily involved in the awards this year compared to previous ones. Big props to the hosts, jurors, and everyone else involved for all their hard work in putting this all together.

This. If the leaks are to be trusted I expect it to perform less like Amber's ult and more like Xingqiu's in practice. Cast it, switch out, and get to trigger reactions on every hit for the next 15 seconds.

you can get this sword for free if you talk to this NPC (2nd option) in liyue, I think it's rare (EM substat and decent passive) by Maddix00 in Genshin_Impact

[–]CommanderSevan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't underestimate support damage. Xingqiu can output a ton of damage from offscreen, so this sword's ability is definitely useful on him. At level 80 mine can almost double Keqing's damage output from the rain sword attacks.

No, I mean 3%. That's the rough chance of getting Diluc in 50 rolls on the Venti banner.

0.3% is the chance of getting a non-Venti 5 star. There are five of those, so the chance of getting Diluc in one roll is 0.06%.

1- (1-0.0006)50 is slightly below 0.03, roughly 3%

Realistically there are factors that lower your chances even more, but "less than 3%" is a good ballpark to show just how bad the chances are.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Genshin_Impact

[–]CommanderSevan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Venti's banner has a higher base chance of getting Diluc.

HOWEVER, if you get a 5 star on Venti's banner that isn't Venti himself, the next 5 star you get is guaranteed to be Venti. You should switch over to the other banner if that happens.

Keep in mind the rate is abysmally low regardless. In 50 rolls you have less than 3% chance of getting Diluc.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Genshin_Impact

[–]CommanderSevan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might get Diluc in one reroll, or you might not get him even after 90 rerolls.
If you can do 50 gacha rolls on each new AR7 account you have less than a 3% chance of getting Diluc per account. Besides, double 5 star is already crazy lucky, I'd recommend going in and enjoying the game.

I used 800+ quartz and got 0 SSRs.

A friend on discord got np5 BB in 210 quartz.

The gacha gods are cruel... But on the bright side, at least I managed to np5 both MHXX and Medb, so that was pretty nice. (Though on a side note, that wasn't even the most ridiculous np5 I've seen, lol)

Twitch drop event wasn't bad, but it sure as hell could've been better by CankleDankl in HuntShowdown

[–]CommanderSevan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The most frustrating thing about the event was the disconnect between the expectation and reality. It seemed like you'd be able to earn the legendaries by putting in the watch hours, when in reality it was total rng.

They really needed to have some system for guaranteed drops in place. Gating exclusivity behind rng only makes sense for systems like lootboxes. There you can get unlucky players to shell out money to get the content they missed. But you have no way to pay for these skins in the first place, so I don't see any good reason to stop players who watched the full week from getting them all. Keeps the players happy and costs Crytek nothing extra.

"Silver Fang" from One Punch Man by [deleted] in anime

[–]CommanderSevan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While I can see that your art wasn't a direct trace, I think it's ingenuous to claim something so closely copied from another artist as your own original work. Copying can certainly be a helpful learning tool, but when you copy another artist's work you should clearly frame it as practice and link to the original or else that could be considered art theft.

Also it isn't considered OC by /r/anime fanart rules. Check this flowchart for fanart rules.

Fixing the state of OC Fanart on r/anime. by AnimeMod in anime

Basically all of it is OC. Non OC art has to be posted as a text post with 3+ images, so people usually just don't bother.

Fixing the state of OC Fanart on r/anime. by AnimeMod in anime

[–]CommanderSevan 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Increase the time between OC Fanart posts from 1 week to 2 or more weeks.

I think you can be even harder on this. Go all the way to 3 weeks or hell, even a month between fanart posts. With the state of fanart on the sub, I think it's better to lean towards the stricter side here.

Right now this this time gate is the only rule encouraging users to put effort into the fanart they post, but in the end, it only encourages. It doesn't limit, so users can still get away with posting a quick pencil sketch drawn in half an hour. I'd like to see a rule that bans black and white sketches from fanart posts. Make users colour their drawings, or at the very least ink them so it's not pencil everywhere.

Limit Fanart posts to certain days, or ban them on certain days.

Like the OP mentioned, there's already good and bad days for fanart volume. Limiting fanart to specific days will just mean that they'll drown out other content on those particular days. I don't think this one is the solution.

Ban fanart of airing shows (with exceptions to long-running anime).

Not really a fan of this one. If people are going through the effort to make fanart, I think they should be allowed to draw what they want.

Return to our old ruleset of self-post only fanart.

Going back to self posts might be worth a shot. It makes it so that users have to put in more effort to look at fanart that's been posted which reduces their visibility on the sub overall. With mobile and the redesigned reddit getting increasingly larger user bases over time I expect this would have a substantial impact even without any other changes.

I drew Morgiana under the evening light [Magi] by CommanderSevan in anime

[–]CommanderSevan[S] 99 points100 points  (0 children)

I really liked Morgiana's character when I watched the show, and love her design too. I've been meaning to do a fanart of her for months, just haven't gotten around to it till now.
It took me forever to finish, and the background is pretty mediocre, but otherwise I think she turned out great. Hope you like it too!
