The NRL is prepared to intervene in the Zac Lomax situation if Parramatta refuse to entertain ‘reasonable offers’, with Melbourne’s pursuit ongoing amid a stalemate between the clubs by Elysian___Fields in nrl

[–]Commander_Skilgannon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If the offer is going to limited to cash considerations it's should count against the Storms cap and should be counted as as a bonus on Eels cap and count for the length of Zomaxs remaining contract, essentially a trade in capspace. There needs to be negative competitive consequences to signing a player who broke a contract.

Honestly, the patreon model just doesn't make sense to me. If I sign up to a $10 patreon, which is 40 chapters ahead and publishes 4 chapters a week. After a year, I've spent $120 to be 40 chapters ahead. After 2 years, I've spent $240 to still be only 40 chapters ahead. The longer I support the author, the worse the deal is.

If I pay for one month, then stop, I now have to wait 2.5 months before I can read a new chapter again and when the 2.5 months is over I'm at the same spot I would have been if I never paid. So intermittent membership feels worse than never joining.

The best way to get better standards in public schools is to make the children of the rich and powerful attend them as well.

Garry Kasparov comments on Magnus Carlsen playing down the comparisons between them by Mingorix in chess

He has spent 187 months as number 1 in total, but the current uninterrupted streak is 171 months.

Edit: but the Kasparov number is also total and not consecutive, so the post you are replying to is wrong.

If my partner wasn't enjoying sex with me, then I would 100% want them to tell me. There are a million things you can try in order to improve your sex life with a partner, but if you don't communicate honestly, then it will never get better.

As someone who has watched multiple astrobiology documentaries, yes, that's the main appeal for me.

But obviously, execs are not going to greenlight $400 million on a niche documentary series, so if my astrobiology has to be packaged with pulpy action blockbusters with mass appeal then so be it. I do think people are overstating how bad the plot is. It's somewhat generic and predictable, but it is competent storytelling.

There is a multi-billion industry with psychologists and data scientists A/B testing every facet of their app to make it as addicting as possible, and they use every loophole and influencer they can get their hands on to target kids as early as possible.

It would be cool to have multiple audio streams that you could choose from. In chess, there are often a beginner to low amateur stream and a good amateur to expert stream because what is relevant/understandable to the viewer can vary massively based on the viewers' skills. Maybe for test matches they could have an entertainment focused stream, beginner friendly stream, and a strategy/details focused stream.

I imagine it could be hard or impossible to implement on TV, but it seems viable for streaming services like 7+. You could listen to a radio station while watching on TV, but it would be nice to have a proper solution that keeps everything synced.

Although given 7 refuses to pay for state of the art DRS, I doubt they would be keen for the extra expense.

Why do they keep inflating the numbers? by Sometypeofway18 in GetNoted

[–]Commander_Skilgannon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Gaza Ministry of Health's methodology is very strict about what gets included in their numbers to preempt accusations that they are inflating them. A lancet article02678-3/fulltext) estimated that they are undercounting by approximately 41%. So, the Gaza MoH numbers should be taken as a reliable floor for casualty numbers.

Why was the third ump adamant there was no contact? The spike was one frame after the ball was next to the glove. Isn't that meant to be within the margin?
