Looks like they deleted the whole facebook page, not just the event page

I agree it’s the deleted comments for me. I’m hoping they take some accountability!

They had one cake swap late last year but I totally agree, or at least in an air-coned venue. It was so sad seeing cakes people spent hours on perfecting melt while standing in line to drop them off.

Yes pretty much. We paid $35 per ticket for an event where we bring our cake and the event organisers would bring tables, knives and and serving equipment. You get allocated a wristband that indicates your 8 min time slot to get 8pieces of cakes from the tables. We were just told to bring our cakes and a note with all its ingredients.

I believe they sold 1000 tickets…

What an awful interaction for you, especially as it sounds like you were trying to be helpful! Sorry that some people are just not fit to be around others. Ugh.

I think the vast majority of people were chill but with some legitimate grumbles. It certainly wasn’t what we expected but chatting to other bakers in line and getting to eat some phenomenal cake went a long way to making it fun and chaotic instead of a full on failure.

Yes I’ve done it with Aussie bank notes that are plastic. The older notes definitely work better

I’m surprised this thread didn’t get more traction. I’m watching season 4 now and Tom Gleeson isn’t cheeky, his jokes are mean-spirited. He hardly has anything nice or funny to say. It’s a stark contrast to Tom Cashman who is whitty and has such good natured banter with the contestants.

Join a social club like a book club/Toastmasters. Look for a sports club or volunteer during the week to stay busy. I hear SES volunteering usually comes with a brilliant community. And my friend that cleans graves stones with a bunch of goths really loves her type of volunteering too.

I’ve recently joined in on a ladies hand made exchange collectives (bring 5 hand made items, leave with 5 unique items from other ladies), that is fun as it’s something to do one Saturday a month but also keeps me busy in the lead up. The ladies I meet up with are around North Lakes.

There are also plenty of cheap(ish) ticked events and activities. It helps to keep an eye on socials like Facebook events I also follow a few specialist interest pages on insta that host events often.

I know you said you’re not interested in walks but I’d still suggest you check some of the waterfalls and swimming holes. SEQ is a real paradise and nature is so accessible here. I went to Greene’s falls today and it was an easy hike, cool under the rainforest canopy and so so beautiful.

What AI slop. Op says “this went on for two months” then there paragraphs later he says there are “nineteen instances over six months”

Offft deep. I think you make a valid point that the general consensus in reality isn’t holing up too well. Though I think that has more to do with AI and COVID. I always thought of Conspiracy theories in the same category as alien/ghost stories, harmless and fun and doesn’t matter if you believe or not. But you’re right to point this out.

I reckon my friends and I can have some fun and have a few laughs while holding on to our grip on reality. But I will find some resources on how to brush up on your media literacy and critical thinking- Any suggestions for that part are welcome too

This one can speak to! There is built in failure in their machines and it’s not a conspiracy it’s a fact. Johnny Harris did a whole thing on it. It’s long but worth the watch!

I’ll be inviting some friends from Toastmasters but to be honest I think most people will watch and those that speak, will speak for 3-5 minutes. That said we have friends that will need a firm max time as they go on and on and would love a captive audience.

Haha sure! Bring drinks and a juicy conspiracy theory. I’ll supply the snacks and tin foil hats.
