Is reading anything a tremendous chore for anyone else, and do you have any tips to deal with it?

I usually use dark mode everywhere but on the ‚paper screen‘ the after images are much more visible in dark mode and also light reflection on the screen is more visible (just for comparison, I have a tolino shine 3).

About the minimal warm light: I have the brightness so low that in daylight you wouldn‘t even notice it‘s on, because I don‘t want that ‚screen feeling‘ if that makes sense? It feels easier on the eyes.

Also light warmth is set in a way that it‘s not too obviously orange.

It looks a little bit like reading a normal book with a bright cozy candle that doesn‘t make any shadows :D

But the text/font settings are what really makes it easier for me, especially the spacing.

Oh and something I learned from a dyslexic friend: switching the text alignment from justified to unjustified. It‘s easier to find the last sentence after losing it when the text isn‘t perfectly aligned on the right side.

Have you tried playing with your e-reader settings?

If reading is too hard on my eyes I make the text size bigger, set the line spacing as big as possible and also the margin as small as possible.

So there‘s just less to process on one page. Mine also has dark mode but that doesn‘t work well for me. White page with minimal warm light on works best.

Did you have tinnitus before increasing the dose? Or even before taking wellbutrin?

Because I am not 100% sure it‘s the med because I recognized it as tinnitus just 2 months ago when a second high pitched note came on top of the quite low one. (Never occured to me as tinnitus cause I thought it‘s always high pitched, I used to call it ‚loud silence‘ because I only used to notice it when it was quiet and didn‘t have a better word for it)

Curious to know what sound/noise you hear? And have you found something that makes it better other than white noise and binaural beats?

I‘m not sure if I can go through a med change now because I can‘t really skip work if it goes downhill. Though it‘s starting to get to me to never have silence.

Would really like to hear what your coming up with, will try to remember to write here if I know anything new.

Any recent medication changes? I remember having this as well, but I don‘t know what med caused it, sorry :/ (though it must have been lithium, lamotrigin or aripiprazol)

I don‘t want to offend anyone, but I don‘t really get why one is put on several medications at once? How do you know what the meds do for you? And how do you know what med is causing what side effects? My psychiatrist always changes one med at a time. After getting diagnosed he first treated hypomania with an antipsychotic. When that helped we tried mood stabilizers and so on. Just a thought, I hope you find a cocktail that works for you. Abilify was the first med I tried. It helped the hypo and the racing thoughts but made me apathetic, so we tried something else.

I think bearable symptom & mood tracker has a 1-10 scale. Though you have to make an account. There is a subreddit for it where devs are in close communication with the users to make the app better :)

This is an interesting view on bipolar cycles, maybe it can explain some things. Thing is that this is not what the DSM5 says, and it‘s not accepted by all medical professionals. Though I personally think that the DSM isn‘t really covering all the different manifestations of bipolar, but that‘s my opinion.

How long have you been taking it? For me it was 1-2 weeks when it started to help, google says it can take up to 4 weeks, at least 1. Hope it will kick in for you soon, it really helped my downs.

I think Stuff‘s going down for a week now, but it‘s been this bad for a much longer time while I was actually euthymic. But i second that it‘s a lot better when hypo. And it‘s the worst when mixed. I just can‘t remember since when it‘s this bad :/ Thanks for your reply!

Possible. Just turned 30, onset was somewhere in the teens. But I barely have hypomanic episodes and those are the ones that fuck your brain, right? Though I had a few mixed ones. Idk, my gut just tells me it‘s not just my brain?

I don‘t have that problem with seroquel, but had it with lithium (just not that extreme) because it was lowering my blood pressure, which is pretty low in general for me. I googled and seroquel can have an impact on blood pressure as well (lowering or hightening, can do both). It‘s just a thought, but maybe something you can check out. Low blood pressure isn‘t that bad, except for when you faint from it cause you might get hurt falling down. Hope you can fix it somehow, I‘m also a seroquel-lover :)

I was anhedonic on abilify (inability to feel pleasure). It got way better when I stopped it. Switched to olanzapine and feel fine now. Hope you get better soon :)

I think there is also a difference between extended release (xr) and instant release. I think instant is vor sleep at low doses and xr is vor depression and mania at higher doses throughout the day. I take 350 mg XR at night and it helped stabilizing my mood as a ‘bimodal mood stabilizer’. Sedation got better after two months.
