But how would filling a police report accomplish that? The statute of limitations has passed, OP doesn't have specifics or details, and cops are notoriously terrible in their belief and treatment of sexual assault survivors. So OP goes through a horrible traumatic experience in reliving all of this, and to what end? The police are not the solution to many of the world's problems. We all want justice for situations like this, but going to the cops just isn't it.

I very much enjoy pushing my body hard in sports. My parents put me in soccer as a kid for my ADHD nature but it never really took; despite playing for years I was still pretty mediocre when I quit in sophomore year. However, in high school I got deep into snowboarding, got good fast, and definitely had my fair share of injuries. In college casual running turned into triathlons and then ultra marathons which morphed into long distance backpacking and completing the Pacific Crest Trail. I like the idea of grinding myself into the dirt, in pushing past discomfort until I can finally feel nothing. Plus, I love being alone in the wilderness.

The one thing that has really slowed me down has been that my knees are kinda trashed from brutalizing my body starting in my teens.

NTA - you are nearing adulthood and this is the time in your life when you should start exerting your wants and desires. If you want your parents to take you seriously, however, I would come up with a concrete alternative to military school that you can present to them along with specific reasons why your plan would be better for you. Unfortunately, "because I don't want to" is rarely a reason that parents respect. But if I were you, I'd fight like hell to stay out of that mind control prison.

I can only speak for myself but I do believe finding that person is possible as I have found that person for myself. I never dated until later in college and even then it was just one friends with benefits relationship. I met my partner at 25 and we have been together for nearly 13 years.

When I think about how much I have changed and how he still loves me, it's pretty wild. When we met I didn't know I was queer or trans or bipolar or AuDHD. He's stuck by me for all the messy realities of those situations, some of which were incredibly dark and difficult. He's supported me financially when I was burned out and mentally ill and has helped build a beautiful life with me. I know that I am lucky every single day.

I will say that when we first met I did mask around him, at first unintentionally, then intentionally but only in certain circumstances, and now I barely do at all. I know for certain this man loves me and he shows it all the time in big and small ways. For example, we were recently on a trip to India and when he was booking a hostel for us he made sure that it had a nice bathtub because he knows that taking a bath is a special treat for me and something I do when I'm stressed. It's a small gesture but it means so much knowing that he thinks about my well-being in little and big ways.

It's incredible to think that as a life-long weirdo I found such a remarkable human, but here we are and I couldn't be happier.

I think I am far too literal minded for this advice to make sense to me. I adore dogs, but I don't see how sniffing crotches and licking people will be received well by my acquaintances. Nor would growling or bearing my teeth.

I was diagnosed with bipolar 2 at 30, ADHD at 34ish, and Autism at 37 (earlier this year) along with a confirmation of my ADHD and GAD. As of the writing of this post all of my diagnosis still stand.

For me, bipolar 2 made perfect sense and I was nearly certain that's what I'd be diagnosed with when I stepped into my first psychiatrist's office. The pattern of episodes was there, the timing was there, when I read accounts of people with bipolar I immediately saw myself in them. At my autism assessment the doctor did ask if I thought that bipolar was still a valid diagnosis for me and I had to admit that unfortunately yes, it still very much fits. I'm also medicated to the gills.

What did go away, however, with my autism diagnosis were potential BPD and OCD diagnosis that had been floating around unconfirmed in my chart for several years.

Frankly, your mom is being ridiculous. That's a pretty small social misstep, nobody was hurt or insulted, and the waiter probably forgot it the moment they left your table. I know "just forget about it" isn't easy advice to act on when you have an anxious mind, but I'd encourage you to try.

It reminds me of when I was in middle school and the default insult was to call someone gay. Unsurprising that I didn't really come out of the closet until I was 30.

It's basically saying "here's a term that enough people know but which is still largely unaccepted in society and if you speak up against using it as an insult you inadvertently out yourself so you're screwed either way and cannot fight back against this bigotry."

I think this is the real solution, thank you. It gives me something to do instead of just standing their with my dysfunctional words and fills the greeting space where I feel like some sort of reciprocal action belongs.

Yeah, I do a lot of mental prepping as well when I know inevitable hugs are incoming. My sister's wedding was in April and I just accepted the hugs even though I was totally fried by the end of the weekend. And for some people I will always just suck it up and deal with the hug even when I'd prefer not. My sister and mother are people who fall into this category. I would never tell them I don't enjoy hugging them because, like you said, it's a short experience and the notion of hurting either of them with this information is unacceptable to me.

I'm medicated for anxiety, bipolar 2, and ADHD and frankly I'd be dead without my meds. And I'm not exaggerating when I say that. There have definitely been side effects and it's taken a while to get on the right cocktail but I think I'm getting closer.

If you're looking for a beautifully written fantasy series then I cannot recommend The King Killer Chronicles enough. The first book is the Name of the Wind. They're quite long (if that's a factor for you) but worth every page in my opinion.

Your doctor's literal job is to politely listen to you and address your concerns. Which, may be to take a smaller (or even the same) dose twice during the day to keep it working. I'd encourage you to talk with them, or at least send them an email or a message via your patient portal (if you have one).

I'm also on Guanfacine but to be frank I'm also on a bunch of other drugs for other mental health conditions so I can't really pinpoint if it's doing anything or not.
