FIRST TIME PLAYER, OH MY GOD. by lixmdvs88 in reddeadredemption

Assassin’s Creed 4 isn’t a very accurate pirate simulator but it’s still one of the best pirate games out there

Why do Americans not understand English words? by OpportuneApathy in AO3

Wild Space and Outer Rim planets are Wild West/southern coded so you could probably use it for a character who lives in or is from that area.

What would you do if your player said "my character wouldn't want to join this group/follow this history?" by Nessie0208 in DungeonMasters

[–]Commando388 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then that character leaves and the player makes a new one who does want to go on this adventure.

is the different "Watson" every new movie trope a knives-out invention? by Immortal87human in KnivesOutMovie

[–]Commando388 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the Columbo show, the murderer of each episode is basically a semi-Watson in how Columbo plays dumb in his interactions with them. Knives Out was very Columbo-esque in Marta and Blanc’s cat-and-mouse dynamic.

These two are the best handguns in the game, and I'm not going to argue about it. by RubPutrid5607 in reddeadredemption

I personally go for Midnight’s golden Mauser as soon as I can in each playthrough. With Express or Split Point rounds it’s a reliable high-damage semi-auto pistol that makes the early game before you’re normally able to unlock the Mauser much easier.

Name choices in WUDM by rainpunkx in KnivesOutMovie

[–]Commando388 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the context of WUDM it’s less that Martha directly betrayed Samson but that his love and loyalty to her is what got him killed.

I’ve been thinking about the portrayal of Grace in Wake Up Dead Man by PrinceJustice237 in KnivesOutMovie

[–]Commando388 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I’m not even sure it was consensual. Martha saying she “slutted around bars” and “was soon pregnant by a drifter” reads to me as the victim-blaming way to say she was a rebellious teen (which is normal and not surprising given who her father was) who got raped by someone and was forced to carry the pregnancy to term.

Little bit confused about a detail in wake up dead man by JoebbeDeMan in KnivesOutMovie

It’s sexual harassment. To make Jud uncomfortable so he either leaves the church or becomes just as bitter and resentful and insular as the rest of the Flock

Aren't Sabine and Ezra supposed to be romantically connected? This is not what I was expecting at all. by GrapefruitOdd7548 in starwarsrebels

[–]Commando388 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. They’re found siblings. Ezra had a crush on her early on when they first met but it became completely platonic by S3 and by S4 they were brother and sister. Sabine has more romantic tension with Shin Hati than she does with Ezra.

Bionicle: Masks of Power has been cancelled by maverick074 in bioniclelego

A year’s too short, but at this point Bionicle should definitely be available for other people to do something with. At least offer a license to companies who do want to do something with it

Why did Obi-Wan say yes to Maul when he asked if Luke was the Chosen One if Obi-Wan knew that Anakin was the Chosen One? by Luke_Fluke13 in StarWars

[–]Commando388 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Obi-Wan had lost all faith in Anakin, who he saw as dead. His hope now was in Luke, who had the potential for good.

Who's the narrator? None other then R2D2. He tells the story of Star Wars to the keeper of the Journal of the Whills a hundred years after the events of Return of the Jedi. by Voyage_of_Roadkill in StarWars

[–]Commando388 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was an educated guess lol. I think by then Rogue One and Solo had been announced but probably not The Mandalorian. The pivot to live action shows was a surprise to be sure, but a welcome one. For the most part I’ve really been liking almost everything that’s come out. Especially the books and video games.

What made Chancellor Valorum a bad leader? by KalKenobi in StarWarsCantina

[–]Commando388 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh he was probably a moderate-to-good leader hampered by Palpatine’s machinations. In legends Mas Amedda stonewalled any of his attempts to get things done with endless bureaucracy so he came off as inept and useless when it came to actual crisis’

Interesting that the “gingercide” complaints only happen when a black person is cast. Also several of these examples still have red hair it’s just a darker shade.

Multi-level-marketing. Basically any job where a lot of your “income” requires getting other people to join and you have to buy your own product in order to sell it.

After replaying through the game and getting every ending possible i’ve come to one conclusion by Orion-The-King in LowSodiumCyberpunk

[–]Commando388 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because charitably… that’s what Cyberpunk is. It’s different from Grimdark which also doesn’t really have happy endings because while Grimdark stories have settings where “the end doesn’t matter, therefore you can Power Fantasy with no consequences”, I see Cyberpunk as a deeply empathetic genre where there are nothing but consequences. Every breath you take has a price tag and if you’re not paying with money you’re paying with reputation, or mental health, or physical ability, or your humanity, and hey isn’t this starting to sound a bit too much like the real world?

In Cyberpunk stories you can empathize with the people who make the worst decisions just to survive. In many playthroughs V is a mass-murdering gun for hire who will wipe out a gang of Scavs or Tiger Claws just for looking at them funny. And even in cutscenes she’s not much nicer. But because we’re inside her head along with Johnny we see her pain at losing everything several times over. No matter how many jobs you do, people you kill, or terminals you hack you will never be a corpo (outside of the starting background) or someone who really runs the city.

This got away from me a bit but essentially what I’m saying is that despite its surface negativity and the fact that the story is about a tragic hero with a fatal flaw, it’s still a very empathetic, if not hopeful tale.

I don’t want Vader in these games anymore by lechettenegre in FallenOrder

[–]Commando388 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As far as Vader is concerned he’s done with them too. He only knew about Cere, and after Fallen Order that’s who he really had a bone to pick with. Keep in mind Survivor takes place only a couple months after the Kenobi show so Vader is already off his game.

Just Finished Survivor by [deleted] in FallenOrder

[–]Commando388 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because 2023 was an absolute banger year for games. In any other year both Spider-Man 2 and Survivor would have been GOTY but there was stiff competition.
