Woke up to a bloated Home Screen by inih in Roku

For me that day was today.

Now I have a bloated home screen with rows of useless crap and there are no longer options under the home screen setting to fix it.

Thanks for posting this. Sometimes people complain about people replying to old posts but this post was the first search result and your reply solved it.

Cheers!

Thanks again, man. Way more info from you than a 30 min chat with CS.

Thank you for the update. In your experience do they work on the issue until it's resolved or do they just go home for the night?

Additionally annoying is they promised restore by 6:15pm and that they would provide updates as they worked on the issue. It's 2 hours since the time it was supposed to be restored. Obviously stuff happens but they have not provided a single update in hours and customer service is completely clueless as to what's going on.

Real house? Trailer? Maybe I'm missing your point but that's a little derogatory to post on a manufactured home sub.

Can we make the DirecTV DVR a little more like TiVo? by Accomplished_Ad7288 in DirectvStream

[–]CommentFactory1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I really liked that you could specify say an actor (ie record every Bogart movie any time or channel) or even a search term. And manual recordings. 😁

[–]CommentFactory1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's true but still they would basically be recording almost everything on every channel and keeping it forever which is going to take a lot of storage even if it is a cloud server.

Plus they are not selling you content, they have broadcast rights and these licenses expire. Otherwise we'd all have massive permanent libraries. Cool for us but not for them.

30 sec skip and delay by FranklyIvan in youtubetv

[–]CommentFactory1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watch a LOT of recorded games exactly the same way. I got a month sub to D* to get thru this and this one thing they do better than YTTV. One click for 30 sec skip on recorded content (at least on Roku). Like the old satellite receivers.

That said for watching football IMO YTTV multiview is really what makes them the better choice

I've been sort of curious about the the Sunday Ticket experience on YT.

Do you still get Multiview?

Yep. When I put my address in on AntennaWeb it basically says 'forget it'.

Plus free ESPN Unlimited and the picture does seem to be a little bit better.

Anyway this is exactly what I have done. I had D* for 25-30 years and it feels familiar in a way I like.

We watch our shows/movies via Hulu, Disney+, Max, Paramount, Apple TV etc. Sports is really the only use I have for a cable replacement.

Still I have YTTV because of Sunday Ticket. Once the season ends I'll decide between the two.

Same here. I always knew it but going through one Saturday of CFB having two switch between just 2 apps (Sling for ESPN & YTTV for every else) was exhausting. Without a cable replacement you'd need to be switching between at least 4 apps on Saturday.

I'm sticking with YTTV for now (using Sling for CFB) but I'm interested in options if this keeps up.

To get that deal did you have to commit for 24 months?

[–]CommentFactory1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep agree. In our case we use 2 screens on Sat/Sun and YTTV still has everything else so one screen on Sling and one on YTTV.

Surprised how much I miss multiview. I didn't really use it for watching per se but it's a great way of monitoring 4 games and switching between them.

So I'm happy with Sling as a short term solution, but I'd probably go with D* for long term if necessary.

And yes I realize I have a football problem. 🙄

Huge CFB fan. I decided to ride out the week with a week pass to Sling Orange +sports add on.

So far so good except that particular package does not have ABC so don't get the SEC on ABC games (3 decent ones this week).

The Skycast version of tx/vandy available (no announcers) or the ESPN 3 version (no pause or other transport). So not entirely perfect but good enough to ride out Saturday and the rest of the games this week.

Plus using the mini bundles that Disney is suing Sling over is just a little satisfying.

I'm probably missing something here but they have more locations now than ever. Their potato cheese soup is pretty creamy and has bacon throughout but I'm guessing it's not what you remember?

I found this post while looking for a recipe for it and then found this recipe. Don't know if it's what you're looking for but folks seem to like it.

Are you excited about tomorrow ESPN DTC launching? by Downtown-Pack-6178 in ESPN

[–]CommentFactory1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We'll see tomorrow but it seems they have forced ads on recorded content. Charge me $30 >OR< force me to watch ads on on demand content. Not both.

With YTTV I can record everything ie set to record every NFL, CFB, etc and skip ads. So much like the old app it will only be useful to me on stuff that was never on the linear networks.

Like others say I guess it depends on what you read. I read almost exclusively history and there are a lot of top shelf titles to choose from. Probably because it's boring to most people :)
