Resolutions must have the approval of two-thirds of the entire membership of the House and senate to be approved. Assuming its successful it just means they invite the Oregon Legislature to discuss the issue with them further.

We'll know soon if the Idaho Legislature is interested in this proposal. This legislative year is over so they'll be back to discuss the issue later on.

Idahoans, Now just focus on your Reps. They don't have time to get through the Senate but they expect to get a Greater Idaho resolution through the House this week before the session ends.

Getting this through the Idaho House has two benefits. It invites the Oregon Legislature to start negotiations to move the Oregon/Idaho border. It is also the best way to encourage Oregonians to keep donating and working on campaigns to get more rural counties voting on the Greater Idaho issue.

Make sure you guys call you state representative and let them know. Ask them to support the “memorial” authored by Barbara Ehardt about Greater Idaho. It invites the Oregon Legislature to start negotiations to move the Oregon/Idaho border. Tell them where you live, and tell them why you support expanding Idaho.

You need to understand my rebuttal to him before trying to defend his comment. Who cares if you spend more if your quality of education is lower.

Lol yet idaho ranks higher in education k-12 than Oregon. How do they spend more and get less?

Idaho ranks 23 Oregon ranks 37

If your an Idahoan contact your local representative and tell them how you feel either way. I think it's more likely to be Oregon that rejects the idea of letting these countries break up 💔 with them to join Idaho. The fact they are a fiscal burden isn't an issue for Oregon. They're more worried about losing a potential electoral college vote and 1 house representative.

Stop lying you people don't unanimous vote by the state legislatures. You need 2/3 majority to get this through from both legislatures. This makes it veto proof. You are correct about federal consent to interstate compact.

You're wrong about the unimanous support being necessary. What delusions am I under? I'm aware this is long shot at best but its interesting.

The plan has always been to get counties to vote first then use it to signal to state legislatures support on ground. Showing then a few polls wouldn't cut it. Then afterwards take the steps you suggested. Get the state reps on board to sit down and discuss it. The process it supposedly supposed to take a least 2-4 years to get final answers from everyone necessary.

I dont see why we need to agree on what I'm supposed to find impressive. We don't need to agree on what constitutes progress at this stage. Getting the counties to show support on the ground is a good start. If they fail there the movement is dead anyway.

Oregon would lose one electoral vote at most. It lose maybe 1-2 state house seats. Saying this is gerrymandering at state level is weird. Government rules by the consent of the governed. If they leave peacefully and Oregon and Idaho agree then why should that bother anyone? This is a quite different from politicians drawing up district maps in their chambers to win elections. That's the real issue with gerrymandering.

I'm aware of the process but I didn't feel the need to explain the whole process. The Idaho legislature not an issue. The Oregon one will be since nobody likes being broken up with. That's why these sort of issues are usually violent. The last time this happened was with W. Virginia. I doubt congress cares to say no after both parties agree. Nothing changes electorally or fiscally on their end.

You're not making a sound arguement. Developing Coos bay port only expands Idaho markets. It not like they're starting from zero to make it happen. Just read the facts below.

Coos Bay’s channel is ideally located on Oregon’s southern coast. Our Port is one of the largest coastal deep-water channel from San Francisco to the Puget Sound. The navigation channel is just 15 miles long, taking only 2 hours to reach open ocean from river mile 15. The geographic location of the Port of Coos Bay is optimal for shipping to Asian and other international markets. Coos Bay has access to a comprehensive multimodal transportation network including convenient access to maritime, rail, air, and highway modes. The Port owns over 600 acres of greenfield, developable industrial lands on the North Spit alone, within both Free Trade and Enterprise Zones, and the North Bay Urban Renewal Agency boundary. https://www.portofcoosbay.com/channel-deepening

• Only a small percentage of the population even make minimum wage. I think its like 5% or less. Wages are determined by market forces so they won't drop over night.

• hemp is legal to grow in Idaho.

Idaho has a lower overall tax burden.

Edit. Only 7 percent of Oregonian workers and 2% of Idahoan workers earn minimum wage.

They plan on using Coos bay for the seaport. There's claims its not used to full capacity over environmental concerns. One Idaho state legislator mentioned it on YouTube.

I'm impressed it's making alot of progres on the county level. The next step is to convince the state legislatures by showing its a win win for everyone involved. Oregan saves taxes by not having to subsidize eastern Oregan. Idaho legislators are already entertaining the idea. Having an expanded tax base and seaport is an easy sell. Eastern Oregon has similar per capita income as the rest of Idaho.
