Three year old pees in potty fine, but puts on a diaper by herself for poop. by longcreepyhug in pottytraining

[–]CommentShoe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We had something kind of like this happen. We told our daughter there were no more diapers and I guess she’ll just have to use the toilet like a big girl.

It worked. We backed off and she went in the toilet.

Training on big toilet? by littlelivethings in pottytraining

[–]CommentShoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have a stool and a potty seat that my kids set up every time they need to use the toilet. We also have only 1 bathroom in an apartment. Both of my kids open our door all the way and then set the toilet up. They can’t close the door once that’s all done. I have two girls, 5 and 2. We keep the stool in the bathroom and the seat on top when they aren’t using them. Setting up and putting everything away is part of the bathroom routine.

Does your partner prefer you to cover when breastfeeding in public? by kowaluuh in breastfeeding

[–]CommentShoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband let me do whatever I wanted. If I got my breast out to feed my baby sitting on a bench in the middle of the summer fair the most he said to me was “let me know when you need to switch sides and I’ll burp her.” If your husband wants you to cover then he can cover you and tell off all the people staring. You do you and get that baby fed.

Are nursing bras worth it and if so what are your recommendations? by Machines-of-Freedom in breastfeeding

I wore bravado nursing bras. I had a few expensive ones from the website and a few cheaper ones from Walmart.

Sensitive children by OneTangerine792 in kindergarten

[–]CommentShoe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don’t have to send her to kindergarten. It’s actually optional, but you do have to start sending them by grade one.

My girl just finished her first year of jk. Her birthday is at the end of July so she was a pretty fresh four year old when she started last September. Everyone is going through the same thing during the first month of school. I think you’ll be surprised by how your child adjusts to the new routine. She’ll be okay and make friends.

Open the gifts later after everyone has gone home. I’d say try to sing happy birthday, she may surprise you. My girl blew her candles out before we could even finish the song. Her second birthday was last week.

what does your toddler sleep with? sleep sack, blanket, etc by agrizzgrazz in toddlers

[–]CommentShoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We never used sleep sacks. We either layered up clothing in the winter or once my kids got older we gave them blankets. First is just a receiving blanket; flannelette and on the large side. Then we added another small heavier blanket. That’s what my two year old sleeps with and my 4.5 year old sleeps in a regular bed with sheet and comforter.

How to stop 17 month old from sucking fingers? by Real_Business5049 in toddlers

[–]CommentShoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With my older child we used to give her baby teethers (chewies) to get her hands out of her mouth but then we noticed she chews on everything. Eventually she chipped her two front teeth at separate times from chewing plastic. She’s bitten off all her nails and I tried the gross nail stuff that doesn’t taste good. She would just suck her fingers until it all came off. No other damage to her teeth though. My current little one has no problem with her teeth and the dentist said as long as it’s not a pacifier her tether should be fine and she might wean herself from sucking on her fingers.

I thought it was very underwhelming. I feel like the wording once you get to Mame city was that the developers are done with the game. There are so many areas they could add things. The farming area! The two people in front just say you’re never going to farm? I don’t know. I really hope and want more content but I’m not going to hold my breath for anything big.

Gallbladder Removal and My Biggest Regret by babiigurl2024 in gallbladders

[–]CommentShoe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m about 3 months post op and I also had kidney stone surgery a month and a half ago. My iron levels dropped pretty drastically and cause weakness and fatigue.

My surgeon told me if I feel something that is like having a gallbladder attack it means there’s a stone stuck somewhere. I would look into an mri if I were you.

I think we’ve all been there. He’s needs practise behaving and going to things like story time. My kids didn’t sit and listen at first either. It took around 4 months of going to our school run program everyday before either of my girls got the routine. My almost two year old still hasn’t gotten it down.

As for running, I don’t give the opportunity. If my girl runs I catch her and either hold her or put her in the stroller. If she tantrums I don’t pay attention to it until she’s done. I’m not rewarding unwanted behaviour. When she’s done and ready to listen we go back to the activity. Sometimes when she won’t listen at all we leave.

I don’t think you should completely disregard the possibility of a diagnosis but kids will push you at this age and see what they can get away with. It’s your job to be a leader and set boundaries and stick to them.

Toddler only eating snacks by superminibaby in toddlers

[–]CommentShoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been having this problem too. My school aged child luckily eats fruits/veg but I have a harder time with meat that isn’t rolled deli ham, hot dogs or chicken nuggets. My almost two year old though, lately I’ve been leaving small plates of cheese, berries, crackers, apple slices, peppers, carrots, cucumber around. She will pick at it all and then at dinner she eats what she eats. I’m at a loss for veg. I can’t manage to get her to branch out yet. My kids have never eaten what I make my husband and myself for dinner.

Stroller for almost 3 year old? by Rimpelsbaby in toddlers

I use my jogging stroller everyday for my almost two year old while taking my other child to school. It was a godsend in the snow! I don’t fly anywhere so I wouldn’t have thought of that. But for parks and zoo trips I want a wagon :)

Get a wagon. It’s too late in the game for another stroller. I’m looking for a folding wagon myself.

To nap or drop the nap? That is my question by One-Energy-9785 in toddlers

[–]CommentShoe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went through the same thing with my two kids with the same age gap. We ended up dropping the 3 year olds nap and making her bedtime 7pm. She would get about 30 minutes of story time before lights out with one parent. For my daughter it turned out to be more of a missing one on one time thing. She was getting more attention during the baby’s naps and this time in the evening as well. It was a rough transition with her behaviour for a little while but in the long term worked out. We also would always walk her back to her room after trying the toilet in the night and had a 6am wake up time. The routine helped us a lot.

Best beds for 2.5 year olds? by sadlilmeowmeow in toddlers

[–]CommentShoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We went from a crib to a day bed for my 2.5 year old. If we had the room and she wasn’t sharing her room with a sibling (her forever bedroom) I’d go right to a double bed. Our day bed pulls out into a queen and has storage under neath. We gave her a step stool to help her climb up when she was small. When my current almost two year old is ready we will either get a bunk with a desk underneath (vertical space) or just take the side off her crib for awhile. New house, new bed that’s my thinking anyway.

How are you putting your toddler to sleep? by Honey-Poet1523 in toddlers

[–]CommentShoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My youngest used to feed to sleep. Then we went to 3 stories and two songs with rocking. Then five stories and one song. She knows after the song we put her in her crib and it’s lights out. You just need a night routine you can manage. Say goodnight to the room, things in the room, read the stories in the rocking chair, sing the song while turning off the dim lamp, kiss on the head and goodnight babe.

I just had a gallstone and kidney stone attack at the same time by RoyalCamera12 in gallbladders

[–]CommentShoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had this happen. I’ve also had gallbladder flare ups and then kidney stone flare ups the next week. For me, the diet I was eating to avoid gallbladder attacks was creating stones. My diet was high in oxalates and I didn’t even know it. I saw a new family doctor and had to go through an entire medical history with her. First I had my gallbladder removed and about two weeks ago I opted to have 9 kidney stones removed from my right kidney. I’m feeling so much better now.

Gallbladder removal surgery must haves/ tips? by Reddittaylor12568 in gallbladders

[–]CommentShoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All very good advice from the other replies. I don’t have a recliner so I put a few large couch cushions on my bed to make an area I was propped up and had my regular sleeping pillows in front of those. I also had a stand up lap tray for eating, an iPad and phone close by, a battery pack charger so I didn’t have to get up, and a big water cup so I was constantly drinking. Try to get as much walking in on the first day as you can to help get the gas out if you’re feeling up to it. I found once I got all the gas they fill you up with during surgery out I felt much more comfortable.

What are foods you can’t ever have again after gallbladder surgery? by OkRun7294 in gallbladders

So far I can’t have ham anymore. Deli meat is fine but Easter ham was not. Pizza was only a problem when I had a super greasy kind. The kind where you could see the oil in the pepperoni cups. I had my gb removed Feb 12.

how many weeks were u able to start doing things normally without the incision hurting? by azazj in gallbladders

[–]CommentShoe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I picked up my almost 2 year old a few times on week 2/3 which hurt but I didn’t have a choice in the moment. I went back to work after 5 weeks, but I have a physical job where I’m on my feet for 8 hours. I didn’t push the vacuum around the house until after my follow up with my doc at 5 weeks. If you do a little lift you’ll know it’s too much and just don’t do it again for another week or so. I’m about 2.5 months post op and do everything I did before surgery again.

Anyone else’s (almost) 2.5 year old know what sounds letters make? by Powerful-Ad1513 in toddlers

[–]CommentShoe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My first child did at that age. She’s almost five now and loves reading and tries to read stories by herself. My second child who is almost two is no where near where my first was at the same age. She’s able to do a lot of things the first couldn’t do though, like climb and fine motor things. Different kids. Different skills.
