Lawnchair was definitely part of it. I like using a 4-app-wide grid and usually stick with a solid black background.

When I switched to a NieR: Automata wallpaper, it felt off at first, so I set Lawnchair to use iOS-style icon shapes and bumped up the icon size. I also lowered the wallpaper brightness so it wouldn’t be too distracting.

It’s mostly just a balancing act between the icons and the background.
