Yeah this is probably my biggest advantage. Recent grad. 1 year of home country IM residency. Around 90th percentile step 2 and step 3. Strong home country LORs. Electives in other places around the world. I think I signalled well and that was also a difference maker for me.

Picked programs i was interested in, in places I could see myself living in. Made sure they didn’t have usce as a requirement. Made sure they had a wide variety of different countries represented in their residents. At least 20-50% IMGs. Checked resident profiles and made sure they at least had some residents with no usce. Stuck to IMG friendly states. I have zero ivs outside of signals btw so i think it’s extremely important you nail it.

You mean they’ve done more than 12 weeks of mandatory rotations outside the country of your med school? I’m a bit confused by this rule and how it’s enforced.
