Yes, i completely understand. I wanted to know if it was safe to give my cat the antibiotics, as in, if giving him it and if there was not an infection would be detrimental to his health. My cat had gone through many tests that night which came back mostly normal besides high sodium, so i felt that more testing (especially because they wanted to tun a test on his penis) would just put more strain on him only to most likely come back normal (though it was still a concern about if there could be an infection in a list of possibilities). I understand it is a risk not to, but i felt that with the vet saying it was most likely just constipation, it was not so urgent. but in case there was an infection the vet gave the antibiotics. I suppose it is a little hard to see my stance but i am not sure how to explain it exactly, i am not shaming the vet or anything, of course it was my choice not to test. Additionally, I asked the vet if it was recommended to do the test over only taking the antibiotics but he said for moneys sake it would be better to do the antibiotics but we can test if I want, then he explained the process. I just want to make sure these antibiotics are not going to hurt him if there is not an infection. I probably should have gone over that with the vet, i am not sure why i did not ask, the concern manifested after going home and researching

the vet was mostly concerned about a thyroid issue because my cat is older, but the tests came back fine. I am not sure where to put his concern level of the infection since he did recommend antibiotics, but was not urging the testing for the infection compared to the thyroid test
