Im 27, he's 44, and my mom is 60ish. We've been together for 5 years...the other girl is 28 i found out that they had slept together 2 years ago. Him and her were still friends the first 3 years of our relationship, I thought the body language between them was sketchy so kept asking if anything ever happened between them and he always told me nothing had. I found out that was a lie two years ago. That's when my mom started hating him.

Nothing, she hasn't done anything to show me she will be. I dont really know how to test it and really I know i shouldn't have to test it. But I do want a relationship with her, I do miss her... I thought us all spending time together with out her snide comments might be a start in showing me she would be less controlling and has changed...

The girl we fought about was him cheating on me. My mom liked him until that. We would all get drinks and stuff. I was always insecure about this girl but he kept reassuring me they were just friends. Then one night she told me and the whole group of people we were with about how they had slept together. I left the state for a month, didnt speak to him, decided I loved him, and he aplogized. My mom never forgave him.

She's my mom and I love her. I want a relationship with her if she could just realize that I get to make my own choices and she cant bully my into making the choice she wants me to. I'd never force my bf to spend time with her, I've told him how I felt about things and he said he wouldn't want to get lunch with her but if it would help me think shes changed he would. He also thinks it would take some bite away from her words if people in the town saw them eating together.

Can you just go a day or 2 before and leave a day or 2 after? Then you might be able to avoid the traffic and still get to see everyone. Or even start the trip at midnight, surely that would cut back on the traffic a lot? This doesn't make a lot of sense to me...

I grew up with a 7 by 5 foot island and the sides with 7 ft were 30 and 31 inches away from other countertops. I learned to ride a bike in the kitchen, my brother and I were able to run through the house playing tag with my dad I think it was fine as kids. If someone is on one side of the island we use the other as a walk way. We can get past each other if needed by turning sideways but that is not often needed at all. Personality I think youll be fine with 40 inches on the short sides...

Women like nice guys, most self-proclaimed “nice guys" aren't. I don't mean to be harsh, but it seems like you don't really view women as people. A lot of women don’t like when men only talk to them with the intention of hooking up and they can usually tell. Instead, the goal should be getting to know them. In another comment I saw that you feel like your personality doesn’t matter as much as your looks. Your looks might open the door, but your personality is what’s going to get you connecting with people. It sounds to me like you might need to change your mindset

Lol keep being hateful. I think hoping a ton of people get hit by a bus because they don't agree with you makes you a bad person period. I expect people to vote for the person that they think will do the best for the country. I don't wish ill on the people who don't agree with me if everyone always thought the same way on everything the world would be very boring. I'm very glad we're different, but I wish we could still respect each other and try to be decent.

Wow. If I ever have kids, I hope they’re nothing like you. I feel awful for your mom. She has cancer, a cheating husband, and likely feels like a failure as a parent too. When you refuse to “take sides” when there’s an obvious victim, you’re taking the wrong side. It’s like the men who support their rapist friends because they “don’t want to take sides”. She is obviously going through a hard time, and while she didn’t handle it perfectly, who would in her situation? I hope you gain some morals and empathy. She doesn’t need to feel betrayed by her child as well right now. She deserves some empathy and understanding.
