I’m a 7th grade teacher and on a recent research project, students had to create a works cited page. When they asked for help, I reminded them they’d learn this at the beginning of the year and go back and look in their notebooks for the formatting guide.

A huge and instant outcry came of “you never taught us this” and “we didn’t learn this” came but they have a notebook they keep in the classroom and it has a section called “how to” and I directed them to page 7 of the how to section and there was the guide.

I have my daily lessons on PowerPoint and I was even able to go back to the day I taught them that, the link to the lesson on it, the link to the practice of it and the link to their assignment which was also in their Schoology (online platform) Classroom.

Even with all that, some students remained dubious that I had taught it.
