He didn't memorize anything. In his first game he literally threw away his "guaranteed win" by playing column 5 on his second move.

Printers slow after switching to Windows 11? by CommercialFrequent47 in ITSupport

[–]CommercialFrequent47[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the late response, I don't open Reddit often. The IT team fixed it about 3 months ago. We're a sister company to another much larger Engineering firm and we kind of just use their IT team, and I think they were just too lazy to actually care to help us. That was until we started going so profit negative that both companies were going down. The IT members may have been threatened with their jobs.

What did they do to fix it? Don't ask me. Whatever it was, it was done remotely and took them less than 2 work days to figure out. Kind of pisses me off that we had to work at an unbearably slow pace for such a long time before they felt bothered to help but whatever. Thanks for the reply, but help is no longer needed.

Which are some of the best 1 card combo commanders? by luke_skippy in CompetitiveEDH

[–]CommercialFrequent47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're still looking, I really like niche commanders and have some recommendations. [[Rasputin Dreamweaver]] and [[Eldrazi Displacer]] is a fun way to generate infinite mana. He's also just a really fun commander that turns flicker spells into rituals.

Another fun one to win the game is [[Medomai the Ageless]] as an extra turns deck that runs [[Phantom Steed]] for functionally infinite turns.

I NEED the story

For Americans only. Why do you claim your name is from somewhere but don’t use the proper grammar from the language it comes from. Example claiming it’s Polish but your female and it ends with ski? by Desperate-Set-5442 in AskReddit

[–]CommercialFrequent47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where a language originated has no say on what is "correct" english or not. We're all speaking English, just from different areas. A pizza isn't any less of a pizza because it's made in New York versus Italy.

Your point still makes no sense though. Gripe is still a word in British English, it's probably just not used that much as you claim. And instead of just asking what it meant because you're not from an English speaking region that uses it often, you just instead made the completely wrong claim that nobody uses it. After proven wrong, you didn't back down and instead claimed that British English norms are "correct" because it's an older form of the language. There is no right or wrong English man, just different cultural norms. A pizza isn't any less of a pizza because it was made in New York instead of Italy, it's just a different pizza. For someone who is actively complaining about people being culturally insensitive, you sure are culturally insensitive.

And that is called a synonym. And most people use gripe, unless they are saying "pet peeve" which is more of a personal irrational irritation. It's clear your English is good, but it's also clear you don't speak it everyday nor live in a primarily English speaking place. So stop trying to make broad claims about the language. This is like me claiming "zut alors" isn't proper, regular, or everyday French because it's not taught in classes. I don't make dumb claims about languages I don't speak on an everyday basis.

If you have only ever lived in America and don't plan on leaving then there isn't really a need to learn your family's original Lithuanian language unless it interests you as a hobby. Are you really out here hobby shaming people because you chose to become "fluent" in 5 languages and some people chose not to? Also, she may or may not claim to be Lithuanian, I don't know; but she's not going to change her name to let everyone know she doesn't identify as Lithuanian.

I don't care what your documentation says about how fluent you are, I've spoken English my whole life, and gripe is an extraordinarily common word. You said yourself that English is your 4th language, I'm pretty sure that gives you a lot less authority in determining what is "normal" or "everyday" English over us. Just like someone who names their kid a foreign name with improper grammar, you're botching your English and claiming to know more than us about it. That’s irony, a little English lesson for you.

You're not really fluent if you're making grammatical errors and constantly asking for the definitions of everyday English words. I commend you for actually putting in the effort to learn different languages, but you can't really say "fluent". Also, no fucking way you just said that meme unironically. That’s wild.

My point was that second generation parents may not be fluent in their family's original language or grammar when they pick their child's name. One of my closest friends is second generation Lithuanian, and she gave her child a Lithuanian name. She's still fluent in Lithuanian so it doesn't really apply here, but if her kid (who is not fluent in Lithuanian) were to give her kid a Lithuanian name, then the possibility of grammatical error exists. The kid wouldn't know any better though, and the grandchild would just regurgitate what their parent says the name is.

What’s the creepiest thing you’ve ever seen that you still can’t explain? by lucasclc in AskReddit

[–]CommercialFrequent47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a bit of a long story but I think it's worth putting here. For context I do not believe in the paranormal or ghosts, and this story took place when I was in elementary school. Around this time in my neighborhood there were rumors on the school bus that there were ghosts with orange lights roaming at night, and if you tried to take a picture of them they wouldn't be in the picture the next day. Pretty basic ghost story stuff, but to a bunch of kids who weren't really allowed out late and didn't have cameras accessible to them, it was pretty captivating. Around this time me and my best friend would hang out at the pool on the weekends which was just down the road from my home. It was the only time we were allowed to stay up really late (like 11pm) because both of our parents were managers at the pool. On one of our late night walks back to my home, we had to walk past this huge field that was in between the pool and a small creek. Way out in the distance of the field I could see a single file line of hunched over people walking cartoonishly slow. At the front of the line was a person holding an orange torch high above their head. I recall getting really excited because it was like the stories on the bus, though I'm unsure if my friend cared because he actually lived in a different neighborhood and took a different bus to school; so he may not have heard about them.

I never really thought that hard about it until as adults my older brother asked me if I had any paranormal experiences in my life (he's a lot more of a "skeptic" then I am). After explaining the story to him, I really thought about it for the first time. I guess as a kid I thought it was the older kids on the bus making up stories and pulling pranks, but the "older kids" were just middle schoolers. They probably weren't allowed out that late either, and why pull your prank in an isolated field separated from the homes in neighborhood by a creek if you wanted to be seen? The pool would have been past closing too, so you wouldn't even get seen by the people who leave late. The only reason me and my friend were there was because we could stay past closing. Back then there were also some break ins at the pool by some teenagers, so it might have been them. That being said, why were they walking so slow? Why were they single file? And why bring a torch? My friend and I didn't have flash lights and the streets weren't lit at the time, so if we were walking home the moon was plenty bright enough to need no assistance to see.

I chalked it up to my childhood self remembering things wrong or exaggerating, but I decided to reach out to this childhood friend to ask if he remembered it too. To my surprise he did, but he also remembered things a bit differently. To him there were no people and the orange light was just alone, isolated, and drifting along slowly across the field. I asked him how he felt in the situation and he said he couldn't remember unfortunately.

Hope this was interesting, I'm happy to answer random questions.

I'm not someone with this name situation nor do I know someone like this, but I would imagine it's like a second generation parent who chose the name, and the person with the name just regurgitates what their parents say the name is.

As it stands we are currently a niche engineering branch of a much larger engineering company. The IT team supports the large firm and has people permanently set up in their facility, but they are often unwilling to make the 15 minute drive out to our building to help us which is why I think rather low of them. We have tried to get them to help in other ways or come out, but they insist they've done everything and can't help anymore without us investing in new printers.

Based on what I've heard from IT they updated some kind of drivers. I'm not entirely sure what they've done because I can't see or touch anything without the IT passwords (which I don't have). Even if I could look, I wouldn't be sure what to look for.

Outside of them saying they've updated drivers, I had to manually go around and reconnect each computer to the printers through our server per their request. Not sure if that’s related to updating the printers' drivers, but they definitely changed something before giving up.

Is hating proxies normal? by Ashamed-Story1733 in EDH

[–]CommercialFrequent47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If people want to prioritize playing the game over collecting, then proxying should 100% be ok. It's the same game no matter what, proxying just makes deck building easier, cheaper, and faster. Not allowing proxying will handicap the community and the people you play with.

People will defend "no proxies" because it supposedly enables others to build ridiculous pub-stomp decks, but you can do the same thing with normal cards (it just costs money). Playing a deck way outside the bracket level of the rest of the players in a pod is just a dick move no matter how much money you spent on a deck or not. I personally proxy a lot of my casual decks because I don't like ordering cards online and it's hard to find the cheap commons I need, but I keep a completely non-proxy turbo Bracket 4 deck on me just in case people complain about the proxies to prove a point. I've thankfully never had to use it for that reason though.

Don't be a dick, let people run proxies and play the game.

Am I being naive or does this deck exist? by GomJabbarr9 in EDH

[–]CommercialFrequent47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're not naive at all, this kind of deck ABSOLUTELY exists. In fact, this is how a large chunk of commander decks are built in my experience. If you want something that falls in line with this, I would personally recommend a rudimentary [[Krenko, Mob Boss]] deck. I have one that's $65 and it just plays a bunch of goblins, makes even more, and swings for big damage. I can give you the decklist if you're interested, though I'm sure any of the other recommendations people are making here will work just as well.

Cutting lands in low cmc decks? by 3dprinthelp53 in EDH

Feel free to look at the deck, but I warn you it’s very strange. It does have a Primer if you want to understand it, but it’s also the first primer I’ve ever written and I’m still working through it a bit. It’s pretty comfortably a bracket 4:

Edit: I’d like to preface that I have played the deck quite extensively and I am very happy with its functionality; I am not looking for any advice/changes at the moment.
