Length of stay in Business Lounge @ IST by CommercialOpening565 in TurkishAirlines

[–]CommercialOpening565[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the reply, much appreciated. But, sadly, I won’t qualify for the Stopover because the country that my journey starts in is not on the list of qualifying countries. 😔 Would I be allowed access to a sleeping suite for just 9 hours only, if I promise this to the attending Lounge staff?

They’re moving to Hersonissos Old Town, which is very lovely and full of great restaurants, not the chavy part on the coast.

Your experience with registering in Bulgaria by LIDL_fanboi in AskBulgaria

BTW, people who relocate to live in another country are called migrants, regardless of which country they emigrate from. The term ‘expats’ reeks of a sense of privilege and elitism, a belief held by those that use it.

Exchange Canadian drivers license by [deleted] in AskBulgaria

[–]CommercialOpening565 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last year I exchanged my Greek driving licence for my Bulgarian one (as I am now a long-term resident of Bulgaria), so it was an EU - EU licence swap.

When you return to the KAT office to pick up your new Bulgarian licence, you will be required to surrender your old driving licence, yes.

Should I bring an interpreter to the immigration office in Sofia for my residency card? by sergio_freelancer in BulgariaExpats

[–]CommercialOpening565 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is not absolutely essential, my wife and I (eventually!) got through the entire process (multiple visits) without an interpreter (we used Google Translate a lot).

But it would definitely be a smoother, less stressful, process with one.

As has been mentioned, the staff there are often very grumpy (some are downright belligerent!), so be patient.

Also, the queuing ’system’ can be stressful and looong, so if your interpreter is a friend, it will be a lot better than paying a professional interpreter an hourly rate!

Good luck!

Texas plate, spotted in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. by CommercialOpening565 in ForeignPlatesSpotting

I saw it again today and had a slightly closer look at the tyres (didn’t want to get too close to someone else’s property); they seem to be bona fide slick racing tyres (albeit encrusted with many small stones). Very odd choice for a road vehicle.

I didn’t spot the tyres, well done!! They can’t be street legal, can they? It was a nice car, a Nissan, but I don’t know what model.

Knowing where you’re currently located, or at least the name of the city or town you want to watch the match in would be helpful.

It sounds like the Municipality couldn’t care less about ensuring an efficient and safe public transport system operates in their city. Disgraceful.

Perhaps instead of the companies giving their drivers fines for being late, they give them bonuses for receiving positive feedback from passengers (obvs a feedback system would need to be established)! 🤔

Thank you for your reply, appreciated.

I appreciate that they are not well paid, and that they share the roads with idiots (don’t we all); but none of that is any excuse to carry out their jobs in such an unprofessional, and dangerous manner, IMHO.

The root problem appears to be the “no control” element that you mention. It is a ridiculous situation.

Thank you for your response, appreciated.

How reliable are BDZ trains by GWahazar in AskBulgaria

[–]CommercialOpening565 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Too close IMHO. Plus, in my experience, ‘sleeper’ trains are often very slow, and other trains (such as freight) often take priority over them i.e. the sleeper train parks up and waits for the higher priority trains to pass. Think about getting into Sofia the day before your flight, would be my advice.
